Nice look at recent Scherff outing. Looks like a steady diet of FB with some changeups sprinkled in there?

Batters are making contact on 53% of swings against him. Nasty.

I know it's a tiny sample size but holly Molly Scherff peripherals in AA are off the charts good! He's allowing a 51.4% contact on his offerings His Called+swinging strikes (CSW%) is 42.9% !!!! If he keeps this up, we may have someone very interesting.

On the other hand, if he keeps this up he’s probably a lock to go in the Rule 5 Draft so we’ll have to protect him. A good problem to have, but still a problem.

The question was posed in the rule 5 draft thread (I believe)- if it came down to putting one of Feltman or Scherff on the 40 man who would you choose?
It’s not even close to me. It’s definitely Scherff. At this point im not sure Feltman is more than a 6th inning guy

The guy who finished the 6th last night might disagree -- he's pretty darn good.

It’s means he’s not the late inning guy they thought they drafted when he first popped up in the system Also being a fireman like Sawamura was last night is a little different than just being handed the 5th or the 6th inning with nobody on base. A Phillips Valdez type. That’s what I mean when I call Feltman a 6th inning guy. I think he’ll be low-medium leverage

Many of these guys fluctuate between roles during seasons or careers. I don't understand the pigeon-holing, especially when still a youngster Isn't Valdez in AAA?

Yeah he is, and when he’s up they’ll use him in low-medium leverage situations. Kind of like what I feel will become. And it’s not belittling, it’s an incredible feat to pitch in the bigs for 1/3 of an inning. It just is what it is. Unless the fastball is back up to 98 and/or his command improves I don’t see him as much more than an interchangeable bullpen arm

I remember when Feltman was drafted, I had the non-zero expectation that he'd pitch in the majors that year. Uggh.

Just scouting the stat line, the move to the bullpen was huge for Scherff. All of a sudden, he looks like a viable call-up in 2022.
