Pretty concerning, but not surprised - this is a huge challenge for him. two paragraphs The NESN Boston Red Sox announcer has been sidelined since June 12 as he goes through lung cancer treatments. After undergoing surgery shortly after his diagnosis, Remy tweeted Wednesday that he will begin chemotherapy at the end of August. “I’m still recovering from the lung cancer surgery I had back in June and will soon enter the next stage of my cancer treatment,” Remy said in a statement. “I’ve met with my doctors and I’ll start receiving chemotherapy treatments late this month. I have some difficult challenges in front of me, but I plan to keep fighting this thing. I’d like to thank everybody for their many thoughts and prayers and continued support.” Read more at: nesn.com/2017/08/jerry-remy-updates-red-sox-fans-on-status-of-lung-cancer-treatments/

Best wishes for Remdog. Anyone catch Nesn with Boggs in the booth? I only was able to listen to radio broadcast last two days. Was wondering how he did? Hopefully a little better than Timlin. Maybe Timlin grows into it the more he gets to do it, but to me he felt very awkward.

I know Timlin and Gomes catch a lot of flack, and I'm sure Boggs will too, but I think people expect them to be as interesting/entertaining as Eck is, and I don't think that's a realistic expectation. These guys are basically pinch-hitting. This isn't their career at this point, and even if it was, sometimes it just takes time to get good at being the color man in the broadcast booth.
The Sox in the past, as far as I can remember, had D-Lowe and Dave Roberts pinch-hit for Remy at some point and they caught flack for not being too good, but as with Boggs, Timlin, and Gomes, it's just nice to see former Red Sox players I enjoyed be around the team once again. My expectations for them wouldn't be like I'd have for Remy or Eck.
When Remy started he wasn't very good either, but he grew into the role, learned, and because, in my opinion, a really good color man in the booth. And when he's gone, you realize that he became pretty good over time, as I definitely miss Remy and wish him well and a return to health and hopefully the broadcast booth where I think Remy has found his happy place.

Best wishes to Remy. He's a major staple of the modern identity of the franchise.
As for Boggs, he won't wow you with a dynamic personality (yet) in the booth, but he's much better/more interesting than Timlin or ESPECIALLY Gomes. With Wade, the audience gets some really interesting takes on hitters' approaches. Now we just need some funny road/beer stories.
