Good work by Girardi being aggressive here and going to Green. Severino's control was miserable tonight. He was all over the place, and what was in the zone all seemed to be belt high and middle 1/3 of the plate.

Strike zone quite inconsistent in the early going. Severino missed a possible third strike looking that was called a ball, and then Green gets a called strike on a ball outside in the same half inning.
BTW, pretty big squander by the Twins (2 on, 1 out, then back-to-back strikeouts), but at least they jumped out to a quick lead and got Severino out of the game early.

Buxton choked there but still can’t complain with a 3-0 start.

I'm not proud of the overwhelming sense of schadenfreude I'm experiencing right now but it is undeniably exhilarating!

yes, it feels great. But we want the final score to be equally as representative. So I am proceeding with cautionary exuberance.

If nothing else the Yanks have to use a lot of bullpen prior to facing the Indians. I feel like the ump had been doing a good job thus far (called a strike to Castro that wasn't) up until that Didi pitch.

Once you go up 0-2 against a .190 hitter, it’s best to walk him.

Santana looking equally as bad... ugh. Yes he is. Think he's lumping? (2 walks, Judge bloop hit off the end of the bat. ONLY one ball hit hard)

While technically it was a (borderline) strike, the pitch to Gregorius gets called a ball 19 out of 20 times based on where the catcher set up.

Didn't take long for the Twins to be the Twins. Thought the game was on FS1 or MLB. Couldn't find it. Went on the computer, saw it was 3-0 Twins with runners on 2nd & 3rd. Found the game on ESPN, watched the Twins squander a chance to totally demoralize the Yankees, and all it took was about ten minutes and the lead has already vanished.
The Twins cannot flat out beat the Yankees. Like ever.

Green, Betances, Robertson, Kahnle, and Chapman is really insane. I wonder if they get 8 innings out of them.

I get what you're saying, but that has always been a big problem for me. It SHOULD not matter where the catcher is set-up. A strike is suppose to be called a strike regardless where the catcher is set up . We, well myself, may never see it, but Robo umps are coming for balls & strikes.

Absolutely should be called a strike. But almost never is.
