Adam Hyzdu is (maybe) not walking through that door.

What about Adam Stern? I always thought of them as duplicate players.

Adam Stern had that one awesome catch, and that SUPER uncomfortable NESN commercial with Hazel Mae.

I'm sure the SoxProspects web staff is loving not having to make new player pages though!
Interestingly, Cuevas didn't pitch in Venezuela this offseason for the first time in a while. He also, frankly, wasn't very good in AAA last year, so he strikes me as a guy who'll be fighting for a roster spot in the spring/there as injury depth.

Another connection - Like Rusney Castillo, De Jesus was also on last years Puerto Rico team that had Alex Cora as the GM. Good call - hadn't even thought of that. Entirely possible that Cora's fingerprints are on this one.
EDIT: Actually, no, I think you're confusing the World Baseball Classic and the Caribbean Series. Neither player was on the WBC team Cora was the GM for, and De Jesus has never played for Caguas, the Puerto Rican winter league team that Cora has also been the GM of. That said, it wouldn't surprise me if Cora, familiar with the Puerto Rican De Jesus, suggested him. My fault - I was thinking the Caribbean Series as I was reading a translated ESPN Deportes page that seemed to indicate that De Jesus Jr and Castillo was on the Cora team. Note to me: Be careful of page translations and double check ESPN Deportes

Looks like he's AA/AAA depth. Per MLBTR, Hernandez has a strong defensive reputation, which would explain why he continues to have a job despite showing an inability to hit at AA or above.

Not saying Hernandez will ever be good with the bat, but next year will only be his age 25 season, and he was in the majors by 21. That's pretty young for a catcher, especially one who had his development messed with as much as he has.

He has hit below .200 in AA in each of the last two seasons.

Can never have too many catchers in Spring Training. Lot of pitchers looking to get work in, that's why you always see the Ali Solis/Jake DePew/Micheal Brenly like players being signed every year

www.elnuevoherald.com/deportes/beisbol/article195372139.htmlNot that he was really expected back, but judging by this interview it sounds like Urrutia isn’t going to be one of our independent pickups that will be coming back. He says that he doesn’t want to be shoved onto a AA roster due to lack of roster space. With the AAA outfield and 1B situation well in hand, I don’t see him wanting to come back.

To repeat a discussion that was had internally among SoxProspects brass last year - does Steve Selsky's name make anyone else think of Bill Brasky?
