Player 1 averages 128 games per year, 31 doubles, 32 HRs, 89 RBIs, .285 BA, .386 OBP, .515 SLG.
Player 2 averages 127 games per year, 37 doubles, 29 HRs, 86 RBIs, .279 BA, .329 OBP, .476 SLG.
Player 3 averages 123 games per year, 33 doubles, 44 HRs, 110 RBIs, .268 BA, .360 OBP, .554 SLG.
Here are their splits:
Player 1 slashes .261/.347/.436 vs lefties and .295/.403/.549 vs righties.
Player 2 slashes .281/.331/.461 vs lefties and .278/.328/.482 vs righties.
Player 3 slashes .293/.393/.632 vs lefties and .261/.350/.532 vs righties.
Who are they?
Huge hint....
Player 1 and 2 are 25yrs old and will be free agents next year, probably commanding contracts in the 10-12 year range for $300-400 million.
Player 3 is 28yrs old and under contract now for 10/295.... he will have 9/270 left next offseason when player 1 and 2 hit free agency.
I just thought a comparison was worth a look... I keep hearing how player three is injury prone, but these three seem similar in that regard.
A few key points that are not mentioned above:
Player 3 would require a trade, hence we lose prospects/players to obtain him.
Players 1 and 3 are corner OFs, but player 2 is a 3B/SS, so his numbers, relative to his position, should be considered.
Lastly, player 1 and 3 (3 is a bit better) are about zero war defensively and player 2 is an elite defender.
Thank you.

I would ask about player 3 because his team must deal him and his money owed is so disgustingly high I wouldn't give great prospects back too...I'm thinking Boegarts, JBJ, ERod, Travis. Plus he's got a no-trade and only a few teams will be involved in this.
So how bad do you want to keep AndrewB, Devers, Groome if they are demanded for player 3 instead of ML'ers? I'm not doing that.
#I know who composites are.

Benny and Devers would just be dumb, in my opinion, and they are ML'ers. That would be subtracting from what Boston needs.

Come on, why such a simple question?

So Machdo is the definitive choice with a move back to SS but I like Harper better. Both will cost more than Stanton, however, and both will get 10 years (or more) likely both get an opt out after 4.

Harper is going to get at least 10 years and 400 million from the Yankees. And he might actually be worth that, but he will not get it from the Red Sox.
If you are eating all of Stanton's contract, you aren't giving up the same level of prospect.
