Before he was hurt in the WBC Prado was one of the least injured players in baseball. He played 2B, 3B and LF well (maybe just below average at 2b) while batting RH and putting up 2.3, 3.3 and 3.4 fWAR from 2014-2016. Would be a good filler at 2B with Pedroia out while platooning with Devers at 3B and possibly Beni in LF against tough lefties.
First thought would be to trade Rusney for him and 2mil/yr. This would give the Marlins upside (if Rusney plays as well as some of us believe) while taking over CF after Stanton is traded. This would save the Marlins 2.5mil over the next 2 years (presumably they would flip Castillo before his contract ends).
What do you guys think? Any other way to fit Prado in without a Rusney swap (I'm sure the Marlins would want to save more $$ but not sure if they could get a much better deal considering his age/health)

2B is his worst position, but he's still likely league average. Good bat and a solid player overall. Would really be the perfect guy. Thing is they want to dump salary. Not a ton of options at third in the free agent market. Heck not at 2B either. They can move him most likely without taking on Castillo's contract. They won't get a ton, but I can see a few teams going after him.
So for me the question is, is he worth the money for the next two years? For me he would be, but I want us to go past the 237 million mark. If you are staying below that he just won't work like Nunez. Nevermind removing Castillo's salary doesn't do anything unless they plan on him being in the majors and in that case we are going to be over the 237 mark.

My assumption is that both Prado and Castillo are negative assets. If Miami wants to move Prado I'm sure they'll have to eat money and not expect much return.

I don't agree. You just listed why at the top, he is coming off 2.3, 3.3, and 3.4 war seasons and is owed less than Castillo that has done almost nothing in the majors. I don't think Prado has much value, but I can see a team trading for him and that contract. 2 years and 26 million isn't a lot for a guy that has average 3 war a season for 3 years before last year. Also the lack of options in free agency increases his value.

I'd rather give the PT to Marco Hernandez.
