Would love to hear some Rhode Island eyeball reports on how this kid looks right now? I know this site rates him as 44, but the organization must feel differently? They've cut cats to keep him on the 40 more than once. What does his slider look like? If he really sits in the mid 90's from the left side, if he finds that kind of slider that burrows into the hands and hearts of right side hitting men, well that would make him valuable.

he has been a prospect binkie of mine since he converted from the batters box to the mound. He pitched very well lat year as far as the boxscores can show. He threw a ton of scoreless outings, and had 3 or 4 out of 30 plus that inflated his numbers. Curious if he has the stuff to pitch out of the pen in the big show. Without looking at his splits, does he project as a one inning lefty or is he a lefty on lefty guy only.

Did they ever say why he didn't pitch in spring training? I saw mention of Maddox's injury, but never a mention of Jerez's.
It's nice to see him pitching well. I think Johnson will do well this year in the bullpen, but I could see the Sox -- facing another money crunch next year and needing to re-sign Kimbrel -- letting Pomeranz go and putting Johnson in the rotation, giving Jerez a shot as a second bullpen lefty next year.

Jerez pitching in minor league spring training games, just not on the big league side.

Yeah I saw him while we were down there and he was impressive, although I may have been conditioned from watching four days of A-ball. Sat mid-90s. I keep meaning to check my notes to post in here but keep forgetting.
