They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules (link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Should get in Sunday's game. Monday looks like a rain out, which would benefit the Sox and keep Johnson in the bullpen.

mlb radio for me - Baltimore games are blacked out for Raleigh NC....oh well, I like listening to Joe C and Tim N. Don’t get me started on the MLB’s ludicrous blackout policy. I live in the Buffalo area, and the following teams’ games are blacked out: Yankees (6 hours away), Mets (6 hours), Pirates (3 1/2 hours), and Indians (3 1/2 hours). Toronto, which is easily the closest city, is not blacked out. Considering this, it drives me absolutely nuts that it’s the full price for MLB Extra Innings and MLB.tv.

Some teams numbers:
Sox rank 7th in wRC+ but 4th in offensive Win Probability Added.
Starting pitching is 1st in ERA-, FIP-, and WPA, and 6th in SIERA and xFIP-. They're 12th in BABIP, 6th in HR/FB, 1st by a mile in lowest LD%.
Bullpen is 22nd in ERA-, 13th in FIP-, 21st in SIERA, and 16th in xFIP-, but 10th in WPA, lqrgely because Waldn and Kelly have been terrible mostly in low leverage situations. They're 17th in BABIP but 6th in HR/FB.
The "pitching" numbers (except for XFIP- and SIERA) include defense, of course, which ranks 29th or 30th in DRS / inning. The other team like that? the Mets. However, both UZR and Total Zone have the defense as average.

So I’ve decided that if I were teaching a young player, I’d tell him to copy Benintendi’s swing. But if I was picking out a swing for myself, it’s Rafael Devers’. I love the violent way he attacks a baseball. It’s immensely fun to watch.

Wow Eduardo can really use his cutter on the corner like magic now. He needs to go to that pitch at that location more often.

Pretty pitching there. Bottle that up with a little consistency and we are talking big league hurler, for sure.

It's so fun to watch your favorite baseball team do so well.
How can Baltimore even count on Tillman to start? I'd sign him for the Kyle Kendrick role, but that's about it.

The “idiots “ in 2004 were a lot of fun to watch. The 2013 “bearded band of brothers” were too. In the small sample size we have, this team is pretty fun to watch too. The back to back doubles just now we’re just really nice professional at bats. JDM earlier hit a nice sacrifice fly to get ERod’s run back for him.
I know it’s pretty easy to love a 10-2 team. But I’m loving how well they are simply playing the game of baseball and I’m talking about almost everyone of the 27 guys who have been on the roster.

Tilman can't get anyone out anymore. I'm surprised they haven't pulled him yet.
Edit- There Buck comes. The Orioles should go to a 4 man rotation like the Rays. Be better than Tilman these days.

Devers REALLY needs to learn how to slide.

Devers doesn't slide that well. Honestly, a lot of major leaguers don't. It is surprising. Doesn't seem like a hard skill.

What a throw by Mookie. Adam Jones dogged that play.
