Isn't he still rehabbing? They could place him back on the DL. Or just waive him and passed/outright to the minors. He is nowhere close to having a place on the team.

The linked article explains much of this if you click through. And no, they wouldn't be able to place him back on the DL. The whole reason he hadn't started serving the suspension yet is that he had to be activated from the DL first. Now, I'm sure they weren't concerned with rehabbing him to the point he'd be completely ready (since he's now down for 15 more days), but the way this works, I'm sure they wouldn't be allowed to just DL him again after his suspension was up. I'm not sure if he's allowed to go pitch in extended - the suspended minor leaguers are down there, so I'd guess he can?

So far Wright has pitched so poorly that I can't imagine the Sox putting him on the major league roster. If they have to do that to keep him, I think they should let him go.

He can use the last six (IIRC) days of the suspension as the equivalent of rehab.

If he can't stick with the team as a SP/RP perhaps he should rehab as a designated pinch runner.

He can use the last six (IIRC) days of the suspension as the equivalent of rehab. This is correct and he's being assigned to Pawtucket on rehab tonight. Based on the fact that he's starting a six-game rehab assignment and not starting tonight, it looks like they're moving him to the bullpen. Makes sense, given this is what he's going to have to do upon his return.
