With or without Hanley, the Sox are only a good Moreland year from having a really strong top 5 or 6 and just needing 2 of Vazquez/Leon/Swihart, Lin/Holt/Pedroia to be reasonably decent. That said, is there any thought Devers might deserve a few weeks in Pawtucket to settle out? I'm not local so I dont see the games much be it seems like he's struggling. I wouldn't say so. Devers looks a lot better on defense lately, and at the plate he's started to shrink his strikezone. He's drawn a walk 5 games in a row, which had no chance of happening earlier this year. If he keeps with this process, things SHOULD start turning around for him at the plate (not that he's been terrible anyway).

Nice win tonight. Rodriguez nibbling is frustrating.

I like the way this team is developing....the way that Cora is managing. We've been nicely de-Farrelled, IMO - and the departure of Hanley closes a pretty curious chapter of this team. Here's to Pedey being healthy and finding his stroke quickly...Mookie and JDM staying hot, Xander staying steady, JBJ finding it. Feeling good about where things are.

Satisfying win. Everyone contributed. Good pitching, still it was mainly the Mookie Betts and JDM show on offense though. JBJ might be breaking through, Vazquez is still a automatic out. He's going to end up with really bad numbers by the end of the year no matter what. His first 2 months have obliterated that.

Definitely a half full glass aspect but I agree there is a sense of calm, ambiance and aura about the team now. Cora has a bit of the Brad Stevens demeanor too. If we could just add Thornburg to the list ....so far something of a spectre.

Yeah you can see ERod is almost there , His knees are better now he has to trust himself. The strikeouts builds the pitchers. He needs a pitch to get quick outs . I would like them to tie him up in the offseason. Very valuable in the rotation. Thank god there done with Pomeranz after this season. Someone will offer him big money . I hope Theo gets sucked into giving him a big deal.

Is Kimbrel going to come in now? That is the real question? The team is on a pace for 111 wins. They have to give the guy some time on the mound. I get the feeling that he has to pitch every two or three days to stay sharp. Probably should do some stat work to see if that's so.

Alright time to take Pomeranz out of the rotation. This is getting stupid. He doesn't have much of a fastball anymore.

I think now it is time to think of Pomeranz in the past tense on this team - just not convinced.

I am a big Pom fan, but he looks lost. His fastball has lost a bit, but worse than that he has no command. They need to DL him to get him right.

Pomeranz is not right and should be DL’d. My humble opinion, of course.

Pomeranz is starting to get like DiceK annoying. Should have 100 pitches before he's done with 4 innings.

Of course, Pom aside, the Sox need to get some of these baserunners across. Newcomb pitching like he wants them to score.
