Well I'd like to give him another taste and especially agree on a longer term basis as Pedey scares me. I think tho if we make a trade, Chavis and Lin are targets. Lin is developing a bit of pop too....4 dingers. It's sad that both Smith and Thornburg haven't worked out.

Yeah....Travis was a binky..I really thought he would come on. Instead his path is like that of Swihart. Loved Lin's defense last year. I'll bet he is trade bait tho. They would be insane to trade Lin and keep Nunez on the roster. Lin’s already shown he’s a vastly superior defensive player (basically plus MIF including SS and arguably Plus-Plus at 3b), and after Nunez’s knee injury, I’d guess a superior baserunner. He struggled earlier this year, but his .240 BABIP was way out of line with his norm, especially after the swing adjustment. Tbh, it’s arguably criminal that he’s still in AAA while Nunez has a spot on the 25. I’m not saying you’re wrong (if I were a contender, or frankly even a 2nd-div team looking for young controllable talent, I’d be all over him). Just that it’s a bit of an odd choice on the part of the Sox. I’d prefer to see them trade Nunez for IFA $ or a short season lottery ticket and bring Lin back to where he belongs.

Nunez will probably be DFA'D if anything. The Sox would be lucky if anyone claimed his salary to be honest, nevermind getting anything for him. It's a lot like suggesting the Sox could get anything for Hanley, just wasn't going to happen. I think Nunez is going to go when Pedrioa comes back. They're probably hanging onto him as a 25th man at this point (or at least that's what should be happening here). Holt should be getting all of the starts in the meantime.

Yeah but.....If we trade for a quality relief guy, Lin would be a target for the reasons you note...as would Chavis...one of very few power guys we have. I don't want to trade Lin because, in our system, he is heir apparent for Pedey. I hope we hold onto Chavis too. We only have so many minor league bullets.
