Nice pitching lineup today throughout the system. Beeks, Shawaryn, Reyes also getting the nod. But there are only so may characters allowed in the headline.

Draft time potential Sox pick Seth Beer has three HRs. I hope this doesn’t kick off another Austin Meadows-what might have been situation.

Nah. I just thought it was interesting. Besides, Casas hasn't even played yet. I hope Casas will be in the GCL so that I get a chance to see him.
StrveofBradenton and Johnsilver are other guys in this area who may check out our GCL team.

Lopez was reported to have gone on the DL yesterday, but instead he seems to have been promoted to Pawtucket.

Tanner Nishioka with his second home run of the season, both of which have come in the last four days. Hitting .342 with a .990 OPS in Greenville. With his age and college experience, he’s clearly advanced for the level. He’s had some experience in Portland as a stop gap, but maybe it’s time to put him in Salem or Portland full time. Let’s see what he can do. Salem may be a good fit for him if one of the infielders there moves up. There’s not much playing time there at the moment. Carlos Tovar is the backup infielder there and he’s only played 27 of a possible 71 games.

Cuevas has an ERA below 4, and a substantial improvement from last year where he struggled in AAA in the Tigers and Marlins organizations. Seems to just do better as a Red Sox.

Rijo now on the Yakees. Boo. Really Milwaukee? You didn't even get anyone in return. Please don't do that with Dubon or Wilkerson as well.

Per MiLB
TEMPORARY INACTIVE LIST- This list is used only during the season for short absences and may be used at the team's discretion for bereavement leave, family events which require a player to be away from his team, or other non-injury related reasons.. Players placed on the temporary inactive list must remain on the list for a minimum of three consecutive days.
Nothing to do with performance.

As pre-draft reports indicated, he is not a fluid player and has a weak arm....a future DH or 1B. There were also questions whether the could adapt to wood. I'm glad we have Casas and were willing to take a HS player rather than get perhaps less upside college guys succumbing to any pressure to get players to upper levels more quickly. But enough about Beer who was mentioned purely as an aside not a statement that we screwed up and should have drafted him.

Beer was also 0-4.

Jalen Beeks keeps putting zeros like a maniac and adding the groundballs to his game.

Draft time potential Sox pick Seth Beer has three HRs. I hope this doesn’t kick off another Austin Meadows-what might have been situation. I don't want to dive too deeply into this, but one major difference is that people had really strong opinions on Seth Beer--both positive and negative--long before the draft happened. Meadows was largely a blank slate.

Jalen Beeks keeps putting zeros like a maniac and adding the groundballs to his game. Another outstanding start. Given the less-than-ideal (ok, less-than-acceptable eve) circumstances of his first start (bad D alignment and a team that rips lefties), I really hope they give him another shot soon. I hold out hope that he’s a 4, maybe even a 3.

Carlos Tovar is the backup infielder there and he’s only played 27 of a possible 71 games. Let's pump the brakes here. We're talking about a 21-game sample. He's got a .397 BABIP despite hitting more than half of his balls in play on the ground. The interesting thing with Nishioka is that despite the above, when he does hit the ball in the air, he's hitting line drives rather than fly balls (22.4% LD rate compared to 19.0% FB). The power is there that wouldn't make you think it's just BABIP luck. It's the kind of screwy line... that makes perfect sense when you realize it's a 21-game sample. There's no reason to think that he needs to be promoted or even that he's earned one. He didn't break camp with a full-season club despite being 4 years older than Lozada and Suarez, for example. He's doing a great job at the moment but let's let the sample get sufficiently large before making too much of it.
