Figured I'd try a bunch of transactions to try and complete the roster within reason.
Assuming Pedroia cannot be counted on to come back swing a deal with Colorado.
Acquire DJ LeMahieu and Adam Ottavino for Ty Buttrey, Darwinzon Hernandez and a 3rd piece which I haven't figure out yet (Raudes perhaps).
Acquire Adrian Beltre for Blake Swihart and Eduardo Nunez.
Acquire Zach Britton for Heath Hembree and William Jerez.
Acquire Mark Canha for Brian Johnson and Tate Matheny.
Trying to make reasonable deals without surrendering Beeks, Poyner, Shawaryn, Ockimey, and Mata and figuring that Chavis and Groome would not be wanted at this point.
Also think the deals wouldn't work financially unless the Sox do add better pieces in some case. I think it might put them over the LT limit.
Britton could be expensive, and if he's just a shell of his former self, then the Sox might need to look elsewhere for an experienced lefty.
But the roster would look nice come post-season if healthy (assuming that Thornburg and Pedroia never really do help the 2018 Red Sox)
Starters: Sale, Price, Porcello, E-Rod, Wright
Relievers: Kimbrel, Ottavino, Britton, Kelly, Barnes, either Workman/Pomeranz/Velazquez (if he's not dealt)
Catchers: Vazquez, Leon
Infield: Moreland, LeMaheiu, Bogaerts, Devers, Holt, Beltre
Outfield: Benintendi, Bradley, Betts, Martinez, Canha, Lind
The team would have everything covered pretty much.
Figuring that Bogaerts would play every game at SS then Holt is your backup SS and LeMaheiu is your regular 2b unless you want to platoon them.
Canha is a RH bat who can cover the OF when JBJ doesn't hit or can play 1b against a tough lefty.
Another option is to DH Devers or Beltre and move JDM to the OF to get extra offense or Beltre can play 3b against a tough lefty and he would be the primary RH bat off the bench to pinch-hit. And of course, he'd be a mentor to Devers.
I like that Lind can be a LH pinch-hitter late in games, but with Beltre around I can see arguments for giving Lin the 25th spot and let him play defense and pinch-run if necessary.
Depending upon Pomeranz' return to health he could serve in Brian Johnson's bullpen role. Ottavino's presence would lower Kelly and Barnes on the totem pole, and if Britton is looking more like his old self, he'd slot in nicely in high leverage situations.
Too many things would have to go right to have these scenarios situate and I'd probably have to give up more than what I'm giving up here to make the money work. Or simply go after a different lefty but I don't see too many lefties who aren't just LOOGYs. And I have no desire to see the Sox chase Brad Hand.
