They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). Just how does Sabathia do it? I keep waiting for him to fall apart, but he's turning into Jamie Moyer or something.
Although I will like to break my arm patting my own back about how Sonny Gray was going to be a terrible acquisition for them.

Although I will like to break my arm patting my own back about how Sonny Gray was going to be a terrible acquisition for them. He always had excellent pitchability, he was always great at making adjustments, and he comes in from a crazy angle. Obviously when he combined that with his prime-level stuff from like 2006 to 2011 or whatever it made him an annual Cy Young candidate. But even as the stuff diminished, those other skills stayed so he's been successful. I think that's actually true of a lot of HOF/near-HOF level pitchers like Sabathia, but Sabathia actually had the durability to turn into that innings-eater in his second career that someone like Pedro Martinez or Roy Halladay and sp many others didn't.

Totally fine if we only win the Sabathia game in memorable fashion (7 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings) and Gardner strikes out 4 times and slamming his helmet after the final called strike and getting ejected after that.

Totally all speculation without any real evidence whatsoever... but over the years the Yankees have had an inordinate number of older players playing well, like Clemens and Petitt, as well as castoffs playing above their heads for a year, like Aaron Small. Just can't help but think pharmaceuticals have had some influence.

He now throws it almost 40% of the time.

My 2 basic rules are:
Don't get swept
Don't give away any games.
Hope the Sox can take advantage of the Sale/Gray matchup.
Hitting with runners in scoring position would be a very big deal this series. Never know how that's going to shake out.

He's the classic crafty lefthander™ and he's very competitive. That scowl he uses when umpires don't let him play on the margin seems to have an effect. In the later innings he gets strikes called that often aren't. All part of his game.
