Lane Milligan: .314/.410/.412/.822 5 XBHs, 9 Ks, 7 BB
Brandon Howlett: .333/.444/.444/.889 5 XBHs, 10 Ks, 8 BBs
Good to see these two young kids hitting well in the GCL. Howlett was billed as having some swing and miss in his game, but has a very good strikeout rate in SSS rookie ball.

Chavis was originally in the lineup for Portland at third base. Got scratched at some point in the last hour or so.

Also somewhat noteworthy, Phillips is playing his natural position, 2B at Pawtucket, not 3B. 1st game in the field tho.

Chris Machamer with a decent line for Lowell. He apparently throws strikes, 46 pitches/32 strikes.
Don't look at Duran, it's bad luck.

Portland game apparently ugly enough that the players have switched sides.

PawSox dig deep for a ninth-inning 8-6 win, scoring three with two out in the top of the inning. Robby Scott fought hard for the win, pitching the 8th and 9th, aided by Cole Sturgeon throwing out Dustin Garneau on a fly to center in the 8th.

Portland game apparently ugly enough that the players have switched sides. They do that all the time. Almost every game they have the reverse pitching and batting. it is stupid but it is all the time.

The world is not right tonight. Durbin Feltman just lost the game for Greenville giving up 2 runs..AAAARgh.. by the way, they had Capps (Greenville) pitching to Miranda(Lexington).

We're in the process of training some new folks on how to do site updates and would appreciate if folks were patient while we work out the kinks. Thanks.

Trey balls nice little run got BLOWN UP But why leave him in to give up 9 hits and 8 runs in under 2 innings?

...and a smart move by the opposing manager. If a pitcher is just blowing stuff by hitters, the first step is simply getting the bat on the ball. They did that, then they hit the jackpot.

Trey balls nice little run got BLOWN UP But why leave him in to give up 9 hits and 8 runs in under 2 innings? Because it was still under 2 innings in an outing where the starter came out after the first batter of the fifth inning. You only have so many pitchers in the minor leagues - you can't just pull a guy after a couple batters if he doesn't have it like you would in the big leagues. As it is they still wound up having to use Betts because Hart and Ball combined didn't even get them out of the sixth. It's the same reason why Hart started the fifth, only pulling him after the leadoff guy tripled. Looking at the actual outing, once he gets through the fifth, you put him back out for the sixth. First batter singles and next homers. Ok, clean slate. Gets two outs. Tebow singles, another homer. Ugh, but clean slate, just get a damn out, Trey. Nope, single, homer, time for the hook. He only threw 52 pitches on 2 days of rest from throwing 19, that after having the break, so it's not like it was awful for his arm or something. Ball failed to do a job after Hart did the same. Happens.

Old friend Stephen Nogosek pitched the scoreless ninth inning of the Binghamton slaughter. He had a nice first half in the FSL, but his control went kind of haywire after his promotion a couple weeks ago.
Still pretty good for the Mets out of someone who is now the third piece in a deal for two months of a reliever.

I meant it as interesting that they moved another 3Bman to Portland prior to scratching Chavis. That would indicate the decision wasn't last minute.
