Kris Jackson was promoted to Lowell. I read this as Kris Johnson for a second and got really confused.

That Kris Johnson has been carving up Japan for a few years now, wouldn’t shock me to see him come back over ala Mikolas
Lowell’s got a great shot at 8 with Bazardo throwing

If Howlett continues to mash, does he stand a chance at starting in Greenville next year even with Casas and Northcut on the roster?
The Howlett situation kind of reminds me of Dearden and Esplin from last year. Well regarded day three high school guys towards the back end of the top 60. Both of them went to Lowell and I have no problems with that. But at the moment, Howlett is outperforming what either of them did in the GCL last year. I think they send Howlett to Lowell next year based on what some other people have said, but what would it take to change that?

I always look forward to the late season promotions. Boston usually sends some of the top GCL players to finish with Lowell who play 9 games after the GCL season ends. I would hope Howlett is one of those who gets that reward and maybe impresses at the higher level. Being 9 months younger than Northcut, he is a pretty interesting follow.

Both Sarasoxer and myself took in a game at Ed Smith (Sarasota) several days ago. I was hoping to see Northcut and Howlett. Howlett did play and has a very strong and athletic body. He made one play at 3rd that stood out for me. He took a slow grounder coming in quickly and threw a seed for the out at 1st. Nice footwork and a very impressive arm. For one so young, this is a kid not to snooze on.

My answer is to ignore stats from the half season after a guy is drafted. Remember, we're talking about a 15-game sample including today, in which he is only even playing against 4 teams. He may or may not have a chance to make the Drive, but it won't be because of his GCL stats. Separate note, Brendan McKay rehabbing in the GCL game. Unsurprisingly, four perfect innings with nothing hit in the air in fair territory, seven strikeouts.

8 in a row will have to wait for the Spinners. Game postponed due to rain.

Montero seemingily promoted to Salem skipping Greenville. Wow that is interesting. Does anyone know if someone is being scratched in Salem in the coming days? Houck is scheduled for tomorrow still. Really meteoric rise for Montero though. Just 20 years old.

Chavis isn’t appearing in either of the doubleheader games after being scratched before yesterday’s game. Hopefully it’s just a nagging little injury that won’t keep him out long term.

It doesn’t seem like they value Low A a ton for solid pitching prospects
Idk I’m just throwing what’s probably nonsense out there
Awesome to see Howlett continue his hot start. Tony Renda has been tearing the cover off the ball since entering the system. I understand he’s basically another Jonathan roof but it’s getting hard to ignore him in the box score

Montero seemingily promoted to Salem skipping Greenville. So odd that I would assume this is a paper move. You don't promote this kid with so little experience in short season ball and skip over A right to A+. Paper move. And he also hasn't pitched since 7/6 - so 11 days. Paper move.

^ Agree. Makes no sense. He also hasn't pitched since 7/6. My feeling is he's injured and they just wanted to get him off the Lowell roster temporarily while Salem had the Mata spot open.

Salem just released transactions for today's game that include Ahearn going down but not Montero, instead having Mata come off the TIA (as well as Kemp to the DL and Tovar off). Honestly, Lowell's MILB.com transactions haven't been very reliable the past couple years (at times this season, they've had the Lowell roster up at as many as 38 players...), so I'm inclined to chalk the Montero thing up to some kind of mistake.
