C - Saltalamacchia 1B - Bogaerts 2B - Pedroia 3B - Middlebrooks SS - Marrero LF - Brentz CF - Ellsbury RF - Victorino/Bradley Jr DH- Kendry Morales
SP - Buchholz, Lackey, Doubront, Webster, Barnes
RP - Workman, Britton, De La Rosa, Miller, Tazawa, Bailey, Hanrahan
I think the Red Sox extend Ellsbury, Pedroia & Saltalamacchia and keep most of their current Bullpen Arms - Hanrahan, Bailey, Miller. They sign Morales to play 1B in 2013 & he moves to DH in 2014 because Bogaerts hits his way onto the team and he becomes the new 1B.
Bench - Vazquez, Holt, Victorino/Bradley Jr, (25th man=?)

Is ranaudo more likely to be in the big leagues by 2015 than barnes? plus i think lackey will be gone These are all just hunches, right? My gut says the large-framed Ranaudo gets healthy and refines his mechanics as he ages to become a serviceable reliever in 2 years. Barnes for some reason seems to me like the elite pitching prospect most likely not to make it, just a guess. Lackey I am hoping will rebound the next 2 years and will be worth re-upping on a 1 or 2 year deal.

C-Lavarnway 1B-Ellsbury trade 2B-Pedroia 3B-Middlebrooks SS-Bogaerts LF-Victorino/Brentz CF-Bradley Jr RF-Jacobs
SP-Buccholz SP-Lester SP-Barnes SP-Webster SP-De La Rosa
Closer-Bard Setup-Wilson Setup-Tazawa
I think the big thing people forget is that Ellsbury will get traded in July and I think he will have the kind is season that gets the Red Sox a a couple big prospects.

Fantastic. On a side note: are people actually trying to decide who will be the #1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 pitchers in the rotation?

Barnes for some reason seems to me like the elite pitching prospect most likely not to make it, just a guess. i really hope that you are wrong. time will tell. double-A is usually the turning point for prospects, and that is where Barnes will begin 2013. hope that all goes well for him

i dont think pedroia will move to 1B at any time. he is GG at 2B and has a great body to play 2B, not 1B

I'd love for the Sox to sign Phil Hughes as a FA after this year. He's coming along nicely as a pitcher and will be just 27 as a FA.
If Kershaw reaches FA after 2014, throw the vault at him.

Pedroia at 1st base.....That would be hilarious all the throws going over his head even more material for the midget jokes.

Assuming no trades or FAs (age/status as of 3/31/15):
C: Lavarnway (27, arb 1) 1B: Carp (29, arb 2) **LIKELY TO BE A TRADE/FA** 2B: Pedroia (31, under control through 2015) 3B: Middlebrooks (26, arb 1) SS: Bogaerts (22, pre-arb) RF: Victorino (35, under control through 2015) CF: Bradley (25, pre-arb) LF: Brentz (26, pre-arb) DH: Gomez (31, pre-arb) **LIKELY TO BE A TRADE/FA**
Bench: IF: Iglesias (25, pre-arb) C: Butler (29, pre-arb) OF: Nava (32, pre-arb) **LIKELY TO BE A TRADE/FA** 13th: Holt (27, pre-arb)
Pitchers: Lackey (36, under control through 2015) Lester (31, resigned after 2014 season) Buchholz (29, under control through 2017) De La Rosa (26, pre-arb) Webster (26, pre-arb) Barnes (24, pre-arb) Bard (30, arb 3) Carpenter (29, pre-arb) Tazawa (28, arb 2) Wilson (28, pre-arb) Doubront (27, arb 1) Britton (25, pre-arb)
It's easy to see where the organization's focus in trades/FA will be in the next two years (replacing Ortiz, finding a long-term 1B, more front-line pitching).
Ellsbury will bring a high draft pick after this year but it won't be a factor for 2015.

Lackey won't be gone, unless they trade him. He's going to be getting league minimum in 2015, and for a number 4 or 5 starter that's great.
