At this point I'm rooting for the Yanks to pitch a shutout. Maybe they'll be due to give up some runs by the time they get to Fenway.

Minus a miraculous comeback, we know who we need to beat...wondering which final tweaks Cora will make in his final roster selections? Certainly cements ERod and Eovaldi. Three of these five - Pomeranz, Poyner, Workman, Hembree and Kelly - will make it (given 11 pitchers). Not sure if we need lefties (beyond our starters) in the pen with the MFY line up.

I'm guessing we see Workman and Kelly get those last two spots.

Ugh why do we have to face the MFY's? It will make our victory over them all the sweeter...and battle test us pretty well for either Houston or Cleveland. Getting to the WS should be a challenge...and that is what it will be for sure.

Ugh why do we have to face the MFY's? Because having the best record in baseball means you have to play the team with the second-best record in baseball in a first-round best-of-five series. That's just logic.

The Oakland A's can blame that homerun on Jeter, just cause.

Gary Sheffield is such a Yankees honk.
He said advantage Yankees because Judge and Stanton hit homeruns and are feeling good at the plate. He also noted Sale's down velocity as a reason.
Yet the Sox play at home the first two games.

Gary Sheffield is such a Yankees honk. He said advantage Yankees because Judge and Stanton hit homeruns and are feeling good at the plate. He also noted Sale's down velocity as a reason. Yet the Sox play at home the first two games. No more than Pedro or Big Papi are Red Sox honks. I don't think he said anything that's outrageous. Yankee fans must love seeing Judge go deep. Maybe he's feeling better and when he does he's a difference maker and Stanton going deep can't be seen as a bad thing for a Yankees fan. And Chris Sale's velocity IS down significantly. I'd love to see Sale firing 99 MPH and overwhelming batters like he did in June and July. If he does the Yankees are in for a tough time. But if he's pitching the way he's pitched since he's come back, he's hittable, and that definitely could change the dynamics of the series. Kind of negates any big starting pitching advantages. It all depends upon which Chris Sale you think is showing up. I think it's the latter but I'm hoping and praying for the former. I think he's the key to this series. I like the Sox' chances in Game 2 despite David Price's history. I'm not sure why but I think the Sox will handle Tanaka that game and either Wright or E-Rod will help the Sox win in relief. I'll even go out on a limb and predict that Price won't pitch a gem but he gets the elusive starting W. Man, I hope that doesn't sound stupid later on. If the Sox take both Fenway games, they're obviously in good shape, but if they split, they go to Yankee Stadium needing a split which isn't easy. I don't like the pitching matchup for the Sox in Game 3. I think Porcello will struggle at Yankee Stadium and I'll take Severino in that situation. Game 4 is a game that I think the bullpens will determine. Don't see Eovaldi or Sabathia long for that game. The hitters should take over and that's where I worry about our pen, particularly on the road. If it gets to Game 5, then like Game 1 it's almost all about Sale again. His expectations are such a mystery at this point.

Ortiz is definitely biased.
Pedro is not biased imo. He told everyone tonight that he was thinking along with Severino. He also helped Severino with his mechanics in the past.
I just think Sheffield's take is ridiculous. Stanton and Judge eating two cookies in this game doesn't necessarily mean it will keep happening in the playoffs.

Bring it on. The series will hinge on Sale and Price being Sale and Price. However, I truly believe that this team is offensively and defensively talented enough to come back in any game or series. Wild guesses...Red Sox in 5. Wright gets 2 wins in the series, Eovaldi the other.

That's just logic. Yeah but..... We all know that logic doesn't play a part here. This series will be the quintessential "thrill of victory or agony of defeat".
