On the other hand, what if sale had 8 ks, was cruising and gave up a 2 run cheapie hr. Wed be in the same boat you cannot win a game with 0 runs and if anything Sale has at least gutted us to stay in this game, he has far from shit his pants...

Why the fuck is Núñez playing? Cora’s man crush on him is costing us big time. Its really silly. Nunez is a below replacement level regular season player. Never mind against one of the best teams in the league.

For the record Sale has appeared in THREE games and done this against the Astros. When is the trend starting then Mr. Logical then? 3 games? If you are including the relief appearance in which he made one bad pitch that was hit for a home run, but otherwise looked good then I really don't know what to tell you. Again, it's a complete overreaction. Also, saying things like "Mr. Logic" in an insulting way is not a way to get your point across. I have found when people resort to something like that then they are getting too emotional and really have nothing of substance to say. If that is how you are going to play this then apparently this is one of those situations as well. I haven't insulted anyone pal. You're just overly sensitive. Yes when you give up a bad homerun in a relief appearance, it usually tends to be a bad appearance. Go figure.

And the chase pitches don't work when you're behind and throwing more balls and strikes. MANY of which are WELL out of the zone. Any team would have walked ALOT in this scenario. Honestly this is sad. You can still melt down about Sales performance - it wasn't good. Shouldn't that be good enough? Why do you have to pretend it's something that it's not. And why can't you admit it was a command problem and not an Astros problem. I assure you everyone on the board can see it for why it is. You're not going to win that argument no matter how much of a fight you try to put up. I'm done with you. Hey your last shot in... DUDE you and one other poster is arguing against Sale's performance the past two years in the postseason against the Astros. Not me. This is the problem: no one is saying Sale hasn't sucked against the Astros in the playoffs. He has. Only one person is saying that he apparently can't pitch against the Astros. That is the problem here, and that is the overreaction.

It's not really luck, this is his career, and his body frame. He fades down the stretch. Maybe next year they will be significantly more proactive in getting him rest. I thought they tried to do it this year, but maybe he just happened to be actually injured. This year it is an injury, he didn't pitch for whatever time it was, I can't believe it is anything but that. Last year it wasn't velo, but lost his slider. His velo is down, to me, he isn't 100% I don't know if it's injury or not, but this isn't luck because this is Chris Sale. He fades every August and September so it should be planned for. Instead it isn't planned for and they have David Price pitching Game 2 to compound it. And Nunez will probably play all four games this series.

Lifeless at-bats. Reminds me of last year I think the first inning gave me hope, still. They seem to be pressing and Verlander is a good pitcher. But I still have hope. This team never gives up.

How else were they supposed to plan for it this year even if he really was injured? Not pitch after June? He barely pitched for the last two months of the season.

Nunez is in because he hits Verlander reasonably well, I suspect. My preference would have been Devers as well. Sale is not Sale. We don't know that Devers would have made that play. .

Not really about that play as much as a left handed hitter who can hit fastballs against a right handed pitcher. I've simply never been a Nunez fan.

Speaking of Sample size, who was our best hitter vs Houston in last years playoffs? Does anyone remember?

Let's get to Verlander for at least something.
