All our starting pitchers must own farms in Idaho!
Because they are giving up taters in record numbers!

88mph fastballs from Sale; are we not supposed to be concerned at all? Well, he got a $140 million contract. I have a bad feeling about this. Long term contracts are sooo risky especially with pitchers.

I didn’t know Chris Sale could throw a pitch 73 mph. I’ve heard of dialing it down, but what’s the deal?

He’s still trying to locate like his FB is 95-97MPH, however. The high FB (top 1/4 of the zone) and especially when it’s on the inner half of the plate, is almost impossible to hit at 95 or better. Mistakes can be made at that velocity and still not bite you every time. An 88 MPH FB in the same location, however, is a cookie for most MLB hitters. Even more so when thrown down the middle.

Alas, something is amiss with Sale. He is pitching like an AAA spring training scrub arm.

LOL silly me reading this thread and expecting us to be down by 20 and finding out it's a 1-0 game after 2 innings.

We have truly mastered the infield groundout and routine outfield fly ball this year so far.

Outside part of the plate is where they want to pitch Mookie and that's where Mookie should hit it - a double to right field.

Mookie hitting to RF like that makes him even more unstoppable.

That is apparently a very unfortunate truth right now. If he were sitting 92, even mid-91, I’d say...meh, it’s early. But 88-89 is very, very bad. That’s over 5 mph off his velo last year and 3-4 below his low seasons. His shoulder is not right, at all. My tiny wink of hope...Darwinzon up to take his spot. But this is incredibly bad, compounded exponentially by his extension.

Seeing 4FB: 87 mph. Why is Sale still pitching?

This is kind of like Sale channeling good Pomeranz. Slow pace, slow stuff, reasonably effective.
