bad defense always gets ERod..he's snakebit with it. Thought Mookie should've caught the ball in right field, then Xander can't hold on to the ball thrown to second for what would've been the third out. How many outs are they gonna give the O's this inning?

Finally out of that inning. A couple of insurance runs would be nice.

Am I alone in naming the people I continually see behind home plate for games at Fenway?

Am I alone in saying that they should pinch run Swihart for Vazquez before Benintendi had that single?

He's been awesome all game lol. He also said this game-
"Can I call him Erod? I'm not much of a nickname guy, but I'm going to try and stick around longer this time around, so I'll try the homeristic approach."
Guy is hilarious.

JBJ can be kept in the lineup if he hits .200. We had Leon last year at .177 because he was good defensively, the pitchers loved him and he was good in the clubhouse. The same applies to JBJ. How he hit 27 hrs. a few years ago will remain as much a mystery as Leon's .310 year.
True I had hoped JBJ would be better based on last year's second half and reports of re-tooling his swing. His hot streaks had said to me that the ability was there. Unfortunately at age 28/29. I have to accept that he is what he is. He swings over the top grounding into the shift almost automatically. We have to accept him or we will be forever frustrated.
I think playing him only against righties, pinch hitting for him late game regardless of pitcher and in tough spots, would be good for the team, and him. As a fantastic defensive player he would be a good late game defensive replacement where we have leads.
He is not an every day player.

JBJ has been a career reverse split guy, that wouldn't make sense to keep him in versus only RHP.

I thought Devers was a little bit faster than that; thought he had a bunt hit for sure once the pitcher bobbled

I'm not sure where you're getting that from but his OPS is about 70 points higher vs RHP. Most of that difference is slugging, but he certainly hasn't been better vs lefties.

Great catch and exemplary of why JBJ stays on the team regardless of his bat.
I've always marveled at how great defensive players, who have such fantastic hand/eye, can't translate that ability bat to ball. Curious.

He had great years versus lefties in 2016 and 2015, and has been terrible since then. A lot more appearances against RHP (almost a 1000 more at bats), so I'm not sure we can definitely say he is THAT much worse without more at bats.

Xander out of the game. Looked like he was in pain running home on the sac fly. Strike that. Looks like he's in the game. I saw him in the dugout when the others took the field.
