Casas had two doubles already in the suspended game. I know everyone wants the top draft pick to come out on fire, but his five doubles puts him third in the organization behind Chatham and Fitzgerald.

Casas had two doubles already in the suspended game. I know everyone wants the top draft pick to come out on fire, but his five doubles puts him third in the organization behind Chatham and Fitzgerald. Better yet, IMO, his 9 walks has him tied for 4th. Unfortunately, if you are going to point out stats like that, you also have to point out that his 21 strike outs is 5th highest and that his .180 batting average and .300 slugging percentage must be in the bottom quarter of the systems minor leaguers. Still early, obviously, but there has to be some concern about whether he is going to make enough contact to become a major league player. He certainly isn't going to make the major leagues due to his speed or defense, so he has to hit and so far, both in the spring training games and the regular season games, he has not. He started out the spring training games hitting 3rd in the lineup and now is hitting 5th or 6th. Hopefully, he figures it out. But there seems to be a fairly large red flag for someone who is the teams number 1 pick in that years's draft.

His SLG is up to .365 with the two doubles (which still don't show in the stats, because it isn't a completed game), with a .158 Iso. Which kind of gives an indication of how early in the season we still are--just two doubles added 65 points to the slugging percentage. A stretch of 21 strikeouts in 62 plate appearances just isn't a red flag yet, certainly not for a 19-year-old in the SAL.
Crazy Greenville stat: the team has a fairly gross 31.97% K rate (not including the three innings last night). Only Grant Williams (15.38%) and Dustin Pedroia (once in 11 rehab PA) have struck out in fewer than 25% of their Greenville plate appearances.

Ockimey is a one trick pony, but goddamn mashing RHP is a pretty good trick to have.

PA announcer doesn’t cut off Benge’s walkup music and it drops an F-bomb. Collective gasp through the crowd and then he hits a home rub to center field.

It was the music that was playing as he was walking up. You’re right, probably not directed at him, but it started when he walked up. May have been the pitcher’s.

Mata was sitting 94-95 with the fastball. Cutter was 87-88. Cutter got a lot of swing and misses.

Am I the only one that is seeing Duran as more and more in play for an OF job in Boston sooner than later? Especially if we let JBJ walk or cant sign Betts (or trade him)
