Reyes got the start in game 1 for Portland. Had a perfecto going until the first batter in the 4th who hit a shot off the first baseman's glove.
Attendance is very low here.

Because of snow. Just abolish baseball in the northeast prior to May 1.

Because of snow. Just abolish baseball in the northeast prior to May 1. All 8 of the fans at Binghampton are wearing heavy clothing.

I'm guessing this means something but I have no idea what..... Boston Red Sox Verified account redsoxNot enough people talk about the fact that Chavis’s middle name is Scott, making him Michael Scott (Chavis).

Michael Scott is Steve Carrell's character on The Office. weak... The Office is kind of ubiquitous on Twitter, which is probably why the Red Sox social media folks made a thing of it.

Houck with a another great game. FIFY He's been pitching lights out for 3 starts now. When does he get promoted to AAA?

Ho hum Duran 2/3 BB, 2 SB. now up to .407 and .998 OPS Lots of oppo, slowly trending that way in his pro career. Lots of GB still but plenty of LD too (though that takes forever to stabilize). His BABIP this year in 20 games is now right around .500, which seems just stupid. He’s hitting .407 though and as I noted yesterday, his *Career* BABIP in MiLB is something like .440. The oppo/speed combo helps. Still like to see him take a few more walks and elevate a little more to get that GB:FB ratio closer to 1.5:1 or 1.2:1, but man, it’s tough to argue with his results. Plus, the 9 sb with 4 in the last 2 games. I can’t think of a single player who started his Sox career this hot.

Dark horse BP candidate watch: looks like Brian Ellington went to XST to sort his control out, and pitched his first game today with 10/16 pitches strikes and 3 whiffs in a clean inning. He sits 98 and had a great stretch in Miami a couple years back. If they can get him throwing strikes he could help mid season a la Brasier ‘18

There's not a lot of effort to his delivery. His body looks bigger than you would think looking at his head shot, he takes a reasonably long stride. He faced 3 lefty batters, threw his FB high and his breaking pitch on the outside corner. Impressive command with breaking pitch, he was pretty much on the black. ADD: His delivery was pretty smooth, it's difficult to believe he had control issues in the past.

6’2 and 200 - you’d think he’d have to have at least some untapped power potential. It isn’t like you wanna mess with success and have him alter his approach, but still. He’s not small.

We saw him working with Bannister, I think, on some mechanical things when we were there in ST, so the theory from telson could be spot on (at least in terms of what they were doing.

I know he used to sit 98, though some arm troubles may’ve robbed some velo. Even down a few ticks if he’s 95 with command, that’s a pitcher. Nice to hear the delivery looks fluid. Idk...maybe they got his effort level down to boost his location. Still think he’s a bottled lightning candidate. Of course, they may sell off come deadline. This team is pretty terrible right now and the hole they’re digging is deeper each day.
