Joey Curletta making his debut in the system. Batting 5th and playing 1B tonight. Between Curletta and Marcus Wilson, the Sox have added two guys that will slide into the 20-30 spot in the rankings.

Eh, I wouldn't be so sure about Curletta. Its a 1B-only guy who is 25 years old, had never been above AA before this year (and struggled in AAA this year), K% typically between 25-30% with wRC+s a little above average on the whole. I'm not saying he's nothing, but Top 30 seems to high for that profile. He was only ranked in Seattle because that system is severely lacking in depth (yes, even compared to our system). Curletta could fall anywhere between 30-60 to me, but in terms of 1B prospects he's clearly behind Ockimey IMO and probably behind Castellanos too (although the two are hard to compare based on age, experience, batted ball profile, contact rates, etc).

Sooooooooo Bryan Mata went on the IL today, along with Garrett Benge. Hopefully it’s not going to be a long stint on the injured list.
On the positive side, Tanner Nishioka (and Isais Lucena) are back.

Not sure what happened to Pedroia, he was initially listed but isn't in the box score.

Not sure what happened to Pedroia, he was initially listed but isn't in the box score. Scratched due to poor field conditions.

Salem pitching staff with 18 K's tonight. Bazardo struck out six of the seven he faced.

Duran taking a hit on the BA by only going 1-3, but it was a 2b and he had a whiff, so no harm on the BABIP. Nice to see an XBH too. Hoping he gets hot again soon, he’s scuffled the last few games (relatively, obviously).
Josh Taylor continues to look like someone who might help the MLB team. Someone needs to tell him he doesn’t need to punch everyone out, cuz the walks are an issue even though they weren’t when he was a starter. But 8 hits in 12 2/3 IP is great (0.182 BA), but the 5.7 BB/9 is an issue, even if it’s accompanied by 13.5 K/9.

On the other hand, his double was his only hit in 3 games. Both contacts were to the pull side. He seems to be going that way recently more than in the earlier part of the season.
