Are you talking about Hank and Hal ? I mean, Stick Michael was the reason for the great core and he was a George hire and Cashman learned on the job from that front office. And it was just a couple of years ago when they were very middling. The signed Chapman....without a hint of remorse...and turned him into major prospects. Then they overbid us for Miller and turned him into major prospects. They have had some recent prospect success. Even the Giancarlo trade was forced in their direction. And now that the ball is juiced it seems that having hulking guys who can bench press 400 is an asset. I mean, they still have more resources than everyone else. Keep in mind that Stick Michael was able to succeed because George was banned for a few years in the early 90s. Otherwise George would have been impatient and traded them away foolishly the way he dealt away Fred McGriff, Jay Buhner, and Willie McGee. The Yankees may have more resources but their payroll has actually been less than the Red Sox. All I know is they've taken care of the Red Sox, taken care of the Rays, and taken care of Houston. They're winning the games they need to win and they're just about now starting to get their full team back. They still need to get German back. Perhaps they get Severino and/or Betances back. They're doing this without Andujar who can flat out hit. Pretty remarkable what they've done as much as it pains me to say it. They were a great team last year but ran into a historic Red Sox team. They're even better this year and well, this Red Sox team, is not performing anywhere near the level of last season's team, to be kind. that is all fair champs.....but we are talking about Cashman and his performance. I don't see it in such great terms as you guys. He obviously smart and capable, and I think he is an interesting guy, but I am not going to crown him because he has had successful couple of years...that is all i am saying.

Don't have to crown him or anything. Just saying he has his franchise on the upswing and pointed in the right direction and did some very astute things to bring them to this point. Too bad George wasn't still around so he could mess it up.

Yeah horrible loss at home. They need a week off. They're probably already planning their London trip as we speak.

It's not the losses. Losses happen. It's how they happen...poor situational hitting, running into outs, and coming out flat at home. This is a team that will continue to hover at or just above .500 until they clean some stuff up. Top of the order must pull their weight...

But I'm convinced that this may not be the year. I expect that we may make a wild card (to what end?) but the next 14 games will clarify that. Like any year we had some prior super heroes regress but other guys come forward. 15 blown saves is an Achilles heel that needs to be fixed by playoffs or next year. It has destroyed momentum and esprit (mine included).

I actually see a connection between their inability to hit with RISP, hit early, and the top of the order's struggles with the pitcher's struggles. It's kind of a mess right now - judging from Cora's comments, he is losing patience (as he should be). JDM's issues are truly baffling - as are Mookie's.

Sox have scored over 5 runs per game in June, major factor in their 13-9 record. Of course, they've allowed almost 5 runs per game.
9 unearned runs
