I've said it before and I'll say it again. They should look to retain Porcello for around 5 million. Maybe add IP incentives. He's worth more than that to a NL contender. He's probably worth 2 or 3 years over there at 10 plus million. Porcello's value to the Red Sox might not even be at 5 million anymore. Porcello in his 30's is completely different than Porcello in his 20's. Porcello is one of those guys where if he doesn't go to the right environment to succeed and prolong his career, he could go from decent to unplayable and out of the league pretty soon, AKA Matt Latos. His best oportunity moving forward is outside the AL East. Go find the next Porcello who's in his 20's. His best opportunity would be to sign with the Yankees. He could throw the exact same pitches for both teams but the close and crucial calls going his way would make a world of difference.

I'm not necessarily eager to bring him back, but Porcello is basically having the season he had in 2015 once you adjust for league wide offense. He's also throwing about the same stuff that he has for the past decade. I'm not sure why you're taking such a hardline stance on him being done at age 30.

I mean, it's possible, but you're talking about one of the most dependable arms in the game, and I don't really see the collapse risk at 30 to be dramatically worse than it was at, say, 28.

That's reasonable, I'm just not spending any money whatsoever if I'm the Sox taking that risk.

It is amazing how durable and reliable he has been for so long. There is something to be said for a guy who can go 7 every game, even if some of those times he’s knocked out early. I suspect he will get more money elsewhere than the Sox will pay.... maybe Eovaldi money.

Porcello is one of only 4 pitchers to pitch at least 150 innings each of the last 10 years.
Right now, he's sitting at 149.1 for his 11th.

Even Devers' slumps has a lot of hard hit balls in there. One of them the other night was a 112 mph DP.

JDM smoked that! Not a HR in Fenway.

The team just realized ERod is pitching - they always score runs for ERod. Let the fun begin (triple and home run not a bad start!)

The announcers keep talking about Devers' "slump" and it's literally just 3 games. In his last 7 games before today - including his "slump" - he had an .833 OPS. In his last 11 games he's hitting .396/.453/.771. And now tonight he has a triple. (ADD: and a run scored!)
Pretty good slump!

through 3 innings, 2 strikeouts for Eduardo and the rest of the outs on the ground. I'm becoming a fan of this groundball generating machine version of ERod.

I can't imagine we aren't going back to a league of sinker ball pitchers when every pitch above 1 foot off the ground can be hit for a HR by the league's worst hitter.

Jesus, I don't remember that collision between Todd Walker, Todd Helton and Larry Walker. That was a big dollar collision.

just why couldn't JBJ have figured it out offensively ? What a frustrating thing to watch all these years.

How weird is it that ERod became a ground ball pitcher on a staff who's only ground ball pitcher stopped being a ground ball pitcher?
Bring back Porcello and Wade Miley.
