Surprised not to see Bitsko’s name here with Baz. High ceiling guys without major injury histories seem the best fit for us. Honeywell is too risky given the stakes for us. I also like Jhon Diaz as a lesser piece. If you could get Bitsko and Diaz as two teenage lottery tickets to go with Baz, I’d send Vazquez to TB, as much as I do like him.

I just assume he’s not on the table for vazquez and they’ll want to see Bitsko develop for a year or two. He’s part of a small draft class versus the 6-7 good to semi interesting guys that are on the development curve already. If I’m Tampa, I’m not dealing a 6’4 225 lbs 17 year old, I just gave millions to before seeing him for a bit, especially considering he should be entering his senior year of high school...and especially for a defensive catcher with a inconsistent at best offensive track record. Bitsko is the guy that makes you ok with dealing from the depth you accumulated, knowing he’s coming behind to fill gaps and has as big of a ceiling as anyone of them.

Fair enough, but he is so far away they know he is not a sure thing. So if we add money in the deal, I do wonder what we could accomplish. But certainly fair points.

OOps For the Rays, packaging Moreland with CVaz would represent a huge upgrade there as well. Ji-Man Choi is performing even worse than expected. Sox could eat all the dollars of the two (minus minimum wage).

This is a very interesting proposal. One that I'm very interested in.
Shane Baz would be the guy who makes the top of the list that I want. Would be great to get Honeywell too (even though there's less value there). Maybe get a Bitsko too.
Maybe this would be good enough to pivot to get in on the Realmuto sweepstakes, since the number 39 pick got replaced with all these good prospects and get the best catcher in baseball for a good contract.

I like the idea because it combines so many rumored ideas. Take on bad contract for prospects. Trade for pitching (Still don’t know why people think Chavis gets you anything anymore, certainly not a pitcher). Still leaves enough room for a 1 year deal or two.

what would it take (guesses) to get a Sean Newcomb from the Braves? Would Chavis plus a lower level guy get it done?
I like Newcomb as a swing guy, from New England, starting to get closer to costing the Braves more $ with ability to maybe develop into a back end starter. Chavis is a local guy for them and maybe paired with another prospect it would make sense for both.
Just curious
