He actually has played in one other game, going 0 for 2. First hit though!
"We really don't need the whole commercial break/warm-up routine every time a new reliever comes into the game. It certainly made sense in 1884 when they only switched pitchers when the starter was attacked by pickaxe or caught consumption, and no reliever was warming up because he was busy gambling and drinking." - JD

OK, so playoff pictures:
Nicaragua: Boer was the only team that didn't make the playoffs. No more Munoz because he wasn't selected in the reinforcement draft (the playoff teams draft 2 players each from the team that didn't make it - a common winter league thing to keep the best players involved). Which is too bad because he pitched pretty well at the end and moved into their rotation.
DR: The fourth (Estrellas - Payamps) and fifth (Escogido - Puello and, potentially given that he's working his way back, Reyes) place teams will start a series on Sunday. Winner gets Gigantes (Espinal) starting Jan. 2. Aguilas and Este (Mieses) will start their series then as well. The top 3 teams tied, and Gigantes won the tiebreaker on HTH record.

Looks like Jose Mendez ($200k signing last year) is with Cardenales de Lara in Venezuela. Can't tell if he's played at all.
Hasn't but yeah, he's on the roster now.
He'd probably have been playing in the Parallel League/Development Program if that still existed, but with that not an option, they've probably just decided to bring him in to work out with the team. He's nowhere near ready to play in LVBP, but maybe they'll get him a little bit of run before the season ends on 1/10.

Would be awesome if someone here is better at Spanish than me (or has time to type the whole thing into Google Translate), but I think this is saying that the Panama winter league has been cancelled and they're just going to send an all-star team to the Caribbean Series.
As noted above, Jonathan Arauz and Eduardo Vaughan were set to play in the league.

PANAMA WILL BE PRESENT IN THE CARIBBEAN SERIES 2021
The Panams Professional Baseball League, PROBEIS, reiterated its commitment to attend the Seric del Caribe 2021 in Mazatkin, Mexico, despite the postponement of its season of Championship 2020-2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In a letter sent to the Commissioner of the Caribbean Baseball Confederation, Juan Francisco Pucllo Herrera, the President of PROBEIS David Salayandia informed the Commissioner the guidelines that the Government of Panama issued to contain the pandemic, the which prevented the realization of their season in the usual time, but I reiterate that there will be a league in 2021 with the 4 teams.
However, PROBEIS aware of its responsibility to participate in the Series Caribe in Mazatlin, Mexico, which will take place from January 31 to February 6, 2021, I confirmed that I will go to the tournament with a team made up of national and foreign players who were on the rosters of the 4 teams that would participate in the recently canceled season.
The team will enter a “BUBBLE" prior to the trip to Mexico following the protocols of health and carrying proof of NEGATIVE TEST of each of the ‘Members of the delegation, in addition to committing to follow the guidelines of biosecurity that the Mexican authorities determine, as well as all those willing by the Organizing Committee of the Caribbean Series.
In the next few days we will be informing the start dates of the "BUBBLE", as well as the list of the manager and coaching staff that will represent Panama in the Series del Caribe Mazatldn 2021.

OK so it sounds like they're going to dry the season eventually but they're just going to focus on the Serie first.
They had postponed their season until January 8, for context.

Nice article about Pereda that is relatively clear when run through Google Translate. It talks about how he basically forced his way into playing time this winter on a team that already had an established starting catcher and was adding Keibert Ruiz.
I try not to let the winter color my thinking too much after being burned on that in the past, but Pereda is starting to creep into sleeper territory for me. Might be a nice backup or platoon guy down the line.

LBPRC Final MVP Jarren Duran and the Caguas squad are moving on to the Caribbean Series, but they picked up a bunch of reinforcements. The PR entry is going to be Red Sox-heavy now, with both Jeremy Rivera and Jack Lopez joining him (along with old friends Rey Fuentes, Henry Ramos, Juan Centeno, and Jason Garcia).

...and that will be on ESPN Deportes starting Sunday.

Sox on Serie Del Caribe rosters (old friends in parentheses)
Puerto Rico: Jarren Duran, Jeremy Rivera, Jack Lopez (Rey Fuentes, Henry Ramos, Jason Garcia, Juan Centeno) Panama: Jonathan Arauz Mexico: Joey Meneses (Hector Velazquez, Derrick Loop) Colombia: (Randy Consuegra (!!!)) Venezuela: (Niuman Romero) - Also they list Willians Astudillo as an outfielder which is hilarious.

Do the Sox “assign” (formally or informally) players to these winter leagues? That is, how much is player initiative and how much is FO directive? And should we take the reps Duran is seeing as a) an effort to make up for lost time; b) a sign they want to get him ready for faster movement next year (please); c) other?
My hope is this is part of a plan that gets Duran to Fenway ASAP.

So the winter leagues are mostly local players with allotted spots for non-citizens. So Venezuelans, Puerto Ricans, and Dominicans get drafted to teams usually if they're any good, and then the MLB team usually decides whether or not they can play. If you follow any of the Venezuelan minor leaguers on IG, for example, many have in their bios both the Red Sox and their LVBP team.
For guys like Duran who come in, sometimes it's the team helping make it happen. Like I'm sure the Red Sox got that one for him with their connection to Caguas (Ramon Vazquez is the manager). Another example was Marcus Wilson in Mexico, although he understandably bailed after one game when they shut the league down for a couple weeks because of a covid outbreak.
So it's somewhere between. I think with Duran it's that they want him getting reps, particularly with his reworked swing. I'm sure on a normal year, some of these guys wouldn't have played winter ball, but they wanted these guys to get reps.

Thanks. That is really interesting. (I reached the irrational exuberance stage of Duran-watching).

Colin Willis went deep in both of Melbourne's playoff games to help them repeat as ABL champs.
Kind of crazy, but the game that wrapped a few hours ago was supposed to be the winners bracket final, only to be changed to the championship game hours prior because there was a pending covid lockdown in Victoria and the league wanted everyone to be able to get out of dodge after the game. theabl.com.au/news/abl-outlines-plan-after-victorian-lockdown-announcement/
