Already talk of delaying spring training 4-6 weeks and a 130 game at most season.
Who knows what this will mean for the minor leagues?

By that time the vaccine might be available to everyone. However, like the regular flu shot, it might take 2 weeks to take effect.

Apparently the schedule proposal delivered to the MiLB owners from MLB is explicitly for 2022 onward, so it would appear they're anticipating a 2021 season likely disrupted by COVID, at least to start.

If the spring training and regular season starts that late, it seems like a once in a lifetime boon to the previous years playoff teams, especially the WS participants. It might give the pitchers enough rest to recover from the extra work. 2021 might be a good year for the Dodgers to pull off rare back to back championships.
It could also allow teams to look twice at players returning from injury. Then again, there will be more pressure to do well early in (another) truncated season, so maybe the offseason will see more attention paid to durability and dependability rather than upside.

The good news for the Sox is Chris Sale will miss even less regular season games after coming back from Tommy John surgery. Also gives Eduardo Rodriguez more time to ramp up and less of a workload in 130 or less games coming back from his heart condition from Covid.

I have a gut feeling that this 2021 season might be closer to the model MLB pushes for in the next CBA too.
Teams starting up late Feburary/early March. 145-150 regular season games. Expanded playoffs.

I have a gut feeling that this 2021 season might be closer to the model MLB pushes for in the next CBA too. Teams starting up late Feburary/early March. 145-150 regular season games. Expended playoffs. Yeah, that's what I think too. They'll probably settle for about 154 games and expanded playoffs. Just about everybody will make the playoffs. Alright I exaggerate. Manfred said he likes the idea of 14 teams. I think his idea is that the best team in each league gets a bye and then you have the two other division winners and 4 wild cards for each league. The delayed start doesn't hurt the Red Sox. Most teams have injury issues in which they could benefit from extra healing time. Meanwhile if they do start a lot later, wouldn't that back up the logjam of transactions? It seems like a lot of action is occurring a lot later in the offseason than it used to be and that could back up further. I can see a lot of teams holding off on their offers to free agents until late January or maybe even well into February.

Delaying things gives teams considering the Japanese postings more time to react to getting or not getting their targets.
