In other words, that was a horrible deal... so let's project that disaster again! This is where so much of the trade chatter is just eyeball candy and nothing more. The Rays are certainly welcome to ask for whatever they want. Let's see who's foolish enough to give it to them this time.
In my view, the Red Sox purposefully "struggled" to put together a pitching staff in a season that was lost before it started: no Sale; no Rodriguez; no McHugh. The long-term plan is to promote what looks to be a number of young pitching prospects pushing their way to the forefront. It didn't hurt that they also acquired more of that talent in trades. So they decided to use their 60 games looking for warm bodies to complement the returning starters and that group of up-and-comers. They found at least one in Valdez, and maybe more.
The idea the Sox will stripmine their young talent to get in on Snell is designed to do nothing more than provoke a virtual riot. It's worked.

Need some real news and transactions so everyone can move on from dragging this awful fictional trade that will never ever happen.
