Terrible news. Johnson was with the organization for 12 years, including five as the PawSox manager and another two as first base coach at the major league level.

Because half the country still demands their freedom to be maskfree and kill you. Some freedom. I have neighbors who still believe it is a hoax. And are also anti-vaxxers. Incredibly dumb smart people. Brainwashed? So this will keep dragging on until the facts are accepted, whenever that may be. RIP RJ. A good man.

RJ was the man. Loved to talk to him at games - he was funny as hell and would give you thoughtful answers to questions.

It's mind boggling how people refuse to see it or think their rights supersede the rights of others. I mean, we outlaw drinking and driving so that you don't hurt not only just yourself but others....

I met Ron at one of the Pawtucket hot stove meetings that used to be scheduled in January. He could not believe how many fans showed up that day!

I remember him proudly showing off his World Series ring in 2005 and asking him about his young SS, Dustin Pedroia. I asked him if he thought he could play SS at the major league level or if he was strictly a 2b. Let's just say Ron Johnson gave me the right answer.

The 2010 story of Johnson's daughter's near-fatal accident in 2009, when she was hit by a speeding car while riding a horse and lost a leg, is very moving, and it is sad to see a family go through that and then lose their dad or husband at the age of 64. It happened at home in Tennessee when he was coaching 1b at Fenway; he stayed at his daughter's side in the hospital for 34 days. www.espn.com/boston/mlb/columns/story?columnist=mcdonald_joe&id=5963358(the writer posted the link on twitter)

My heart goes out to his family and friends. I know several RJ's age and older who tested positive and battled back. So many variables to the Covid equation and so little established science.
