This is late but worth a respectful mention. Billy Conigliaro, brother of the martyered and more-famous Tony Conigliaro, passsed away last week: www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/30875643/billy-conigliaro-boston-red-sox-first-draftee-brother-tony-dies-73A memory from my early days of Red Sox fandom is the coolness Tony C. and Billy C., two hometown kids with style and talent, playing in the same OF. I recall wearing a shirt pin from Fenway that had photos of the two brothers. I had my old man write "Tony C." on my first glove and still remember his perfect block lettering in green marker on the outside of the thumb. Red Sox history that I have read since then indicates Billy was a bit of hot head, jealous of Yaz, and a bit of a disruptive force, especially after Tony got traded to the Angels. But I also remember a Mike Lupica story that described Billy's all-consuming dedication to taking care of Tony after Tony's stroke. Billy's death at a the too-young age of 73 feels like another unfair blow for a family that has endured too much.
