De Jesus gets the start for Portland in place of Thaddeus Ward who’s going to the IL. Rough start to the year for top pitching prospects in terms of injuries.
On the plus side, De Jesus is getting his first AA start.

He's the countermove for Ward to the IL (note that Schellenger went on IL yesterday).
Ryan Fernandez is on his way to Fredericksburg from Fort Myers, so presumably another arm is headed from Salem to Greenville (and I note that the Salem roster on their website has 31 guys, so there's a missing move there).

Looks like Brendan Nail is going from Salem to Greenville (had been sent down as part of the countermove for activating Celluci).

Another home run for Tyreque Reed. He's shown some serious power so far this year.

It’s an aggressive assignment for Yorke so I’m not concerned about his performance (Has a hit tonight!) but that glove could definitely use some work, eh? Seems like a lot of throwing errors in particular

Seems like a lot of throwing errors in particular I hope you’re right in not being concerned. I don’t know that I’d say I am “concerned” at this early stage, but it sure would be nice if the draftee with the impressive hit tool would start hitting. edit. Just like that, he’s 2 for 3 tonight. Nicely done, Nicky.

I wonder where Gonsalves' command went.
Santana with two more hits tonight including a double. He's now batting .450/1.372. Must be getting close, maybe after the current road trip.

Just read the profile for Cameron Cannon and I am a bit confused. How can a 2nd round pick with a 1.3 million dollar signing bonus have a ceiling of an emergency call up or minor league depth expectation at this point in his development? Those are contradictory to say the least.

It’s looking like he’s about to change that projection though

Wow, Houck, Seabold, Ward, Mata, Bazardo all injured. This sets them all back after not pitching in games last year.

Minor league rule 5 pick should probably have to show something before getting ranked. He’s showing something so perhaps next time around he will be ranked. It’s a 1B/DH profile with a questionable hit tool though so I don’t think he’ll ever rank too highly unless he MASHES

Yeah, he's also 23 and is hitting .250 while striking out over a third of the time. Definitely is interesting, but I want to see more track record before I consider him prospect-y. Obviously already seems like a good get as a minor league rule 5 pick though.

Red Sox seem to be using kid gloves with Blalock. 3 IP in each of his starts so far (about 50 pitches in each).

Obviously already seems like a good get as a minor league rule 5 pick though. And repeating a level he struggled mightily at in 2019. He very likely could find himself in the back third of the rankings on 6/1, but yeah, 10 games doesn't change his projection. The funny part is his BABIP is just .214!

Seriously that scouting report is based on very little when pared with the cost the Sox and their scouting dept were willing to spend.

I don’t know what you want me to say, that’s a good question for the Sox?? the people here didn’t make him look like crap for a pretty extended period of time. It’s not like it was a two week cold stretch. He was a prospect who was alleged to have a good hit tool but he didn’t show it off, and then no other tool was more than average. Some were below average. He didn’t hit in the cape league when he had to use wood. It’s easy to see why people were down on him, he wasnt very projectable. With his profile he’s going to need to hit every step of the way. I could be misremembering but didn’t Law slap a 20 on his glove? It’s borderline cyber bullying but I think he did Idk what the big deal is, I’d just be happy that a prospect looks to be re-emerging and changing his projection instead of questioning something everyone believed to be true until about two weeks ago

Different people have different opinions, it doesn't seem that hard of a concept to grasp. The people at SP that have seen him or the reports that they've gotten to this point clearly didn't match the draft capital. The way you talk about it you'd think every high draft pick has hit.
