They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Pablo Sandoval brings his .908 OPS to the DH spot.
None of those 4 pitchers hit well, so the DH works for both teams

I can buy a case that Franchy should still be on the roster, but not if Renfroe is still starting vs RHP.

I can buy a case that Franchy should still be on the roster, but not if Renfroe is still starting vs RHP. The only reason I can think of is if Cora uses Cordero to PH against RHP late in games. IMO Cora must like Renfroe’s defense so much that he is willing to get lower production from Renfroe against RHP.

Not even close either tbh I get your concern but if they give up on Dalbec vs righties then they might as well get rid of him as he would not figure in their future plans because if he's a short end platoon end corner infielder he's not really that valuable to them down the road as you figure you have Devers at 3b and if he were to wind up at DH (I'm not advocating for that) then X would probably wind up at 3b with a rangy guy at SS. And you know it's a matter of time before Casas is the every day 1b. Dalbec needs to hit righties to have a real future with the Sox. The tempting thing to do is to sit him down against righties, but he'll never improve against them if he doesn't get more exposure to them, as painful as that can be. LIke I said, I totally understand where you're coming from.

The offense by and large has not been an issue.

Tbh this is probably still the best lineup we’ve had all year I think I'd prefer someone else in the leadoff, but we're splitting hairs here. The offense by and large has not been an issue. With the schedule ahead they need to seize every advantage. Leading off a #7-9 hitter does not accomplish that task. Hopefully someone (Santana, Arroyo) can force the conversation with Cora soon.

Not even close either tbh There is no combination that has me prefer Franchy to anyone on the active roster. .181/.227/.289 with meh defense at his position vs .141/.215/.247 with bad defense at his position (so far...I expect improvement) Which do you prefer? That’s the reason I say it. I’m not saying don’t bat Bobby against righties entirely but if they’re going to keep Franchy up I’d like him getting at-bats against righties so he hopefully figures it out. It’s not like he’s that much older than Dalbec, without looking they’re probably within a year apart So that’s what I don’t get. People look at Bobby and cut him some slack for being young but he’s only 9 months younger than Franchy (I looked lol). So is he old or is Franchy also young? Strange to me that one player gets slack and the other doesnt. To be fair It’s probably because he mutilates LHP but still....the point remains in regards to their age, etc

If I'm indifferent over which of two players helps me win today, I'm going to give the start to the guy whose rights I control through 2026 ahead of the guy who has already earned his first arbitration payday.

Here we go with bases loaded again - 85% chance of scoring at least 1 run with no outs and bases juiced.

I also think his D has been fine. I am very much the engineer of the Franchy-will-never-be-good train, but even so, he needs a chance to play regularly in AAA. Dalbec might work his way there, but I say let him ride a bit longer. It isn’t an age thing for me. It is an opportunities thing. Franchy’s had a number, Chavis a few, and Dalbec is in his first.

Idk, you see Dalbec’s whiff rate in the zone? He’s pretty helpless against righties I do agree that Franchy should be getting regular AB’s in Worcester though. But while he’s up I’d at least like to see him play against righties because otherwise I don’t see the point in keeping him here Disagree on Franchy having a number of opportunities relative to Dalbec, he’s had 379 official at-bats. Bobby is in the 200’s. Not really that significant of a difference. Franchy has just been hurt
