Renfroe up to a .250 avg and .717 OPS...slowly climbing towards respectability.

Gotta PH Santana for Dalbec I think. Santana is the better defender too, isn't he?

Renfroe up to a .250 avg and .717 OPS...slowly climbing towards respectability. That is respectable in today’s game! .250 is like a 65 hit tool nowadays

I have a feeling its Ottavino’s destiny to load the bases and get out of another jam tomorrow.

Barnes, before his last 2 outings, in 11 GDP situations: HR, 1B, BB, 5 SO, 1 GDP, 2 other outs in play.
In his last 2 outings, 3 GDP situations, 2 GDP, 1 SO.
Now, that has a 9.3% chance of happening at random if you had a baseball sim with his present GDP rate coded in.
However, he was brought into his previous outing in a non-save situation, facing Freddie Freeman, with 1 out and a man on first and a 4 run lead. Could you place an order for a better situation to try to see if you could induce a GDP? And who wants to be out there longer than necessary, anyway? Freeman had hit into 5 GDP in 32 opportunities, BTW, 15.6%, but he's 9.6% in his career.
If indeed he was trying this out ... he also succeeded the next time a hitter made contact. Garrett Cooper was 12.1% both in his career and this year, exactly.
If this is for real, and he's added a new skill to his arsenal, I think that can only be characterized as unfair.
And you know what? I used his numbers from this year because he's a different pitcher now. But based on his previous career rate (25 GDP in 305 chances) ... 2 GDP's in 3 chances is statistically significant, with a 1 in 47 chance of getting it at random in a simulation given his current overall career rate.

I have a feeling its Ottavino’s destiny to load the bases and get out of another jam tomorrow. A couple years ago I said on here that I never watched Kimbrel. Every time he came in I'd take the dog around the block. With Ottavino, Hernandez and Sawamura the dog has been getting longer walks.

Forecast seems to preclude any game tomorrow.
Two ways to make this up:
Monday, June 7, travel day for Sox coming back from NY, travel day for MIA from Pittsburgh to home (70 minute flight to us), in fact the end of the road trip that stated here. That gives both teams a stretch of 16 days without one off, instead of 8, then 7 (us) or 6 then 9 (them).
Monday August 23rd, Sox are off at home, travel day from MIA to home (98 minute flight to us). But that expands 16 straight days for us (that follow) into 20, while only creating 10 straight days for MIA. Disparity in travel coming in, disparity in schedule strain, longer flight for MIA, and different rosters. Less fair in every way.
(There's a 3rd mutual off day on 9/16, but the Sox are flying back from Seattle that day.)
So it should be easy to make this up 8 days later, which is cool and kind of strange.

As in 2018, this team is avoiding significant losing streaks. They've lost 3 in a row only twice, 2 in a row 5 times. They've also won 9 in a row once, 4 in a row twice, and 3 in a row three times. Quite a likeable, exciting team!

7-3 5-5 6-4 6-4 6-4
And now 2-0 to start chunk #6. Bet they go 4-4 in their next 8.

Big K's this game giving the packed house a chance to use the edge of their seats. Definitely nice to see fans inside Fenway, but I found it odd that the play-by-play guy kept calling it a “packed house” today even though we could all clearly see huge swaths of empty seats everywhere. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This Red Sox team has been a lot of fun to watch and has greatly exceeded the expectations I had for them going into the season. That said, this pitching staff needs to clean it up. All of our starters seem to put 2 guys on base every inning and go from there. The defense certainly hasn’t done them any favors, but it’s not sustainable long term. Eovaldi, Pivetta, Perez, Richards & Erod have all felt like high-wire acts to me all year.

Eovaldi, Pivetta, Perez, Richards & Erod have all felt like high-wire acts to me all year. The Red Sox have the 5th best ERA in the AL. The starters have been among the most consistent in the league, and when Sale comes back it will help even more. AL Team HRs allowed: 38, 45, 49, 54, 56, 58, 59, 60, 61, 63, 64, 65, 70, 72, 76 Guess which one is the Red Sox... If you guessed 38, you would be correct. This fact alone has allowed the RS to get away with a higher WHIP.

Just a guess on my part.
