Still have some hope for a guy like Gonsalves. Control seems to come and go. Has anyone seen one of his outings? Best secondary? Velo presently?

Grant Williams 2/4 with a walk, still no strikeouts. Zero strikeouts in 70 PA in a league that is striking out 27% of the time is remarkable. I am officially intrigued.
Surprised to see that he puts the ball in the air so much.
I'm imagining the 40 man roster crunch leading to losing him in the Rule 5 draft this winter and getting David Eckstein flashbacks.

Literally texted my buddy 3 days ago about him (he is a pirates fan) and called him Eckstein Also this is funny but Nishioka has been hit by 6 pitches already in AA lol That guy is sticking around by any means necessary

I’m a big fan of Williams. Of the batters that are currently on the team (not including Casas), I would put money on him being the most likely to make the majors. There are guys with more potential on the team, but I’d bet a lot of money that Grant Williams plays on a major league team some day. He plays hard, puts the ball in play, doesn’t strike out, fields well at second, and can passably take care of third and short in a pinch. He’ll play somewhere in the MLB.

Warning - Newbie to this web site. Big lifelong baseball fan. Recently moved from Colorado to Virgina and took in my first Salem Red Sox game today. Prior to the game went through the prospect lists for Red Sox and Cubs (they were playing Myrtle Beach - the Cubs low A affiliate).
Quick takeaways:
Gilberto Jimenez seems appropriately ranked. Nick Yorke seems over-ranked. The guy that stood out - Ceddanne Rafaela. Playing CF, not IF. Two great catches in game #1. Covers an amazing amount of ground very instinctively. Stolen base. Very patient at the plate. Superb arm strength. I don't see this name in top 30 lists. Perhaps that's because he was an IFer. But as a CFer, he merits some attention.

Portland and Worcester are both 15-9. Bloom and Co. have done a nice job of signing competitive depth.

Seems a shame that the entire minors are off on a holiday Monday. I’d think teams would have a good chance at a pretty decent gate that they now don’t get an opportunity to realize. I think Hatfield or someone suggested staggering the off day so that at least one level is playing on any given week day. That’s better than this current system.

I think the reasoning is you can have an early Sunday game and get the road team on the way home sooner. But yeah, losing that holiday gate is kind of tough.

Not sure where to put this but what’s the deal with Nick Sogard? He has got 2x more homers this year than his entire baseball career combined leading up to this season. Sneaky part of the Mazza/Springs deal. Switch hitter. A line of .279/.308/.574. Did we luck into a swing change guy?
