Good thing Dolis is the Jays closer. He all alone has lost 3 games to the Sox and is the reason the Jays aren't ahead of the Red Sox in the standings.
The Jays have the core of a playoff team with a scary offense that has gotten nothing out of George Springer, but their bullpen is highly vulnerable. The injury to Yates hurt.
The Sox are very fortunate not to be on a long losing streak having pulled off three exciting last atbat victories. The biggest thing was Eovaldi pitching like an ace and Josh Taylor emerging as a legit 8th inning option minus the leadoff walks that Ottavino dishes out.
The Red Sox offense was flat again, at least until Dolis. At some point Marwin Gonzalez (yes, I know he had 2 hits) has to stop playing so damn often and Kiké Hernandez's ABs need to decrease once Duran gets called up. I guess they continue to Dalbec audition until July but as things stand now they need to find a more consistent bat at 1b.
Toronto really whipped the Sox at home after Houston beat them up, but amazingly the Sox managed 3 wins out of 7 games.
I think this past week highlights that they're a good resourceful team that can find a way to win, but against tougher competition can be outclassed. I think when all is said and done we're going to brace ourselves for that wild card play-in game against Oakland (have trouble believing that Houston won't pass Oakland eventually).

I agree with this all 100%. One thing I’d add is at least its nice Casas and Duran are our top two prospects because the positions they fill are not just positions of need right now, they’re black holes.

Exactly, although I wish Casas was raking at AAA rather than AA. The Sox will depend up Duran at some point, but Casas probably won't be seen until next season. He would have to force his way up to AAA soon and then dominate at Worcester (the way HRs are flying out of there, I wouldn't totally discount that), enough to the point that the Sox would call him up around Aug 1st. That's a lot to ask of him, so I'll assume we see him in Boston next season and that the Sox will audition Dalbec until about July 31st or so and go outside the organization if they need to upgrade as anticipated.
