With the swap of Piverra (out) to Perez (in) for tomorrow, the rotation for the rest of the 17 games becomes clear. Houck getting another start would commit to Sale or Perez starting game 1 of the Rays series, and i don't think you want to do that, nor lose Houck from the pen for the days surrounding another start.
Tor: Pivetta, Richards, Houck NY round 2: same 3 guys as this round, plus Pivetta. Sale makes rehab start 3 on the last day, and they'll decide the next day whether he debuts against the Rays Tor 2: Richards, Rodriguez, Eovaldi, Perez
Rays series:
1. Pivetta or Sale 2. Sale, Pivetta, Houck, or Richards 3. Rodriguez
Which is to say, they decide:
1. Is Sale ready? 2. If so, who gets the extra day or rest, him or Pivetta? 3. If not, who starts the middle game, Houck or Richards?
Right now we have little idea as to whether Houck or Sale would be a better option for this crucial start, nor can we rule out that Richards might be better than Houck.

Nelson Cruz is hitting .184/.244/.342 as a Ray.
So much for the advantage of moving quickly in the trade market.

That fits both the fact that everything was going the Sox' way and against the Yankees for most of the season, and the fact that that's completely reversed recently!
