At 40, the Red Sox select Jud Fabian, OF, Florida. Interesting...wonder if they have a deal with him? They must have a pretty good idea of what it will take, can't just gamble with the 40th pick.

Jud: 29% K rate playing in the SEC that struck out 21% Dalbec: 31% K rate playing in a P12 that struck out 17% of the time
Alright I was worried Jud was gonna be worse than Bobby, now I feel p good.

KC used their presumed savings from taking an underslot HS pitcher at pick #7 to take... another underslot HS pitcher at 41? Very glad I'm not a Royals fan right now.

It is too much to hope for that Joshua Baez would be available when the Sox come up in the 3rd round, but that will not stop me from going to the wishing well.

Is getting the consensus 23 pick with the 40 just as cool as getting the 1 with the 4? Probably not, but still impressive.

I was wrong on Mayer. He must be signing for slot.
The Red Sox are literally swinging for the fences with the boom or bust draft of Jud Fabian. Didn't think they'd get him. I prefer Del Castillo, but then again what do I know?

Would've preferred to pick Hill there but seriously intrigued by the Fabian pick. Wow just wow!

First two picks this draft combined with some previous (Blaze Jordan, Casas) might be indicating some emphasis on draft age in models. Can someone please explain this for the naive onlookers such as myself As I understand it, the predictive models that some teams have built (think "future WAR projection for draft picks") tend to really like players who are young for their level

Probably have too much faith in Bloom & co. right now, but I fully believe that if they picked Fabian they see something correctable with the K's, or are confident the rest of the package plays regardless.

Such exciting production values for mlb to have a disembodied voice read the picks while famous representatives of each team sit at desks doing nothing.

Fabian is definitely a boom or bust pick, the swing and miss is scary, but I'm not sure if their is a higher upside pick in this years draft. He's a Bloom or bust pick.

Fabian is a good enough defender to stick in CF too. I think that's important to remember. Obviously the hit tool will make or break him, but at least he's not a LF only type of power OF.

This would be embarrassing if MLB was, you know, a big money operation that should know how to produce content and had an interest in generating interest in their product.

Yeah, my thoughts. A .249 college career BA does not excite unless Sox see remedy/improvement.

I'm admittedly pretty low on Fabian....the strikeouts really scare me. Hope I'm wrong! I was too but I love him now! Fix his swing and LFG!
