Better than that weird ball thingy. It was a smiley face, because the guy who first drew and marketed the smiley face back in the sixties, which is now the foundation for every emoji out there, is from Worcester.
But there are also a lot of stray dogs in Worcester, particularly down in Main South, where I went to college years ago, so Woofster is also a good pick.

The man who brought you Stone Cold Steve Austin as the climax of the Dustin Pedroia Day celebration?
The man is a genius.

My daughter would have loved it--years ago. Once she was getting tired and cranky at a Durham Bulls game and we knew had to leave soon. But she insisted in not leaving until he saw Wool E. Bull drive around in his car. I had to run over and look to see he was in the car, ready to come out soon.

I didn't have a full appreciation for these mascots until I went to the Sea Dogs game this year with my friends and their children and see first-hand how excited they were at the prospect of seeing Slugger. They hadn't seen him all game and were sad when they had to leave, but we had some hope they might catch him as he was dancing on the dugout.
Getting that phone call from the kids as they were walking out, "We sawwww Sluggerrrrrr!!", is why I'll never say anything bad about a minor league mascot. Woofster is fine by me.

Totally agreed, the mascots are there for kids. I would guess that a fluffy dog is more appealing than a yellow anthropomorphic ball.
