“The Red Sox released 1B/3B Danny Diaz. After signing for $1.6M in '17, he topped out at no. 14 in the #SP60 after hitting 6 HR in the DSL in '18. He never hit stateside, getting demoted back to the DSL in '19 after struggling and hitting just .173/.264/.320 in the FCL this year.”
International Free Agency such a crapshoot.

Same year, TB signed Wander Franco for $3.8 mil. And Sox gave Devers their biggest bonus. So it is a crapshoot, but when you hit 21, they can rocket through the system and give you 6 cheap years.

When I saw him in 2019 in the then GCL, he had an apathetic aura. He looked almost disinterested.

The same year they gave Devers that bonus, they gave a pitcher a big bonus also who did nothing.

The same year they gave Devers that bonus, they gave a pitcher a big bonus also who did nothing. Hinojosa? He was a Cuban professional who didn't count towards the bonus pool. And he did play for them in MLB (and they lost him because DD wasn't nearly as good at 40-man machinations as Bloom). I think he closed for Philly for a hot minute later that year? Anyway, apples and oranges.
