The Sox telling Orsillo that his tribute wasn't needed is such a low blow. Stuff like this is why people can't stand this ownership as a whole. Here's what Orsillo posted and would have been his tribute:

NESN or Sox still tone deaf and stupid when it comes to Don Orsillo. 15 years of bringing championships, laughter and heartaches into our living rooms should not be trifled with. I imagine guys like Eck, Rice and Wake are are either scratching their heads or biting their tongues.

God I hate ownership/NESN Love Don but he always likes tweets of people dissing DOB/NESN and then his likes go viral, so I’m not shocked given how petty NESN is. Regardless of Orsillo being "petty" or matching the "petty" nature of the Sox/NESN he was Remys partner for 15 years. Its insanely awkward not to have someone who was there for 15 years not give a tribute to his partner, in this case, Jerry Remy.

Totally agree, I’m just saying it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone at this point. NESN is the worst

I don't think ownership is involved at all. This is just NESN's call, and all it takes is one a-hole in a position of power. The offer and and cancellation tell you everything. Someone who has worked there a while and is well positioned makes up and sends out the invite list. Their boss sees that Orsillo was invited and overrules them.
It's clear that Orsillo wanted to stay with the Sox (just as every listeners wanted, too) and somewhere in the process of that not happening, some powerful person there was "rubbed the wrong way," which was very possibly just Orsillo calling him on his profits-above-all bs.

The Red Sox plan on-field, not NESN.
For whatever it's worth, the Red Sox side is this.

Seems like a lot made over nothing.

That's the thing when a relationship goes sour. Every little thing gets viewed through the least charitable lens.
