No Aaron Kurcz or Chris Balcom-Miller (both may be hurt). Huntzinger back to AA. No other real surprises.

Didn't Kurcz look good this spring? Could he have made the Pawtucket roster?

According to Huegel, Kurcz is hurt and didn't pitch this spring:

Kurzc hasn't pitched since last July 21st, actually, which strongly suggests some sort of injury. Dead silence on what it could be, though.

Very exciting team headed by Barnes and Bogarts. Other interesting guys will be Ranaudo, Workman, Shaw and Britton. All four have questions to be answered. Hope to get up there soon.

My bad on Kurcz, I thought I remembered reading about him pitching this spring. Might have been a prospect preview or scouting report that sticks out talking about about his stuff and potential.

Hoping we get some decent weather. These arms should be fun to watch. I'll bet Britton gets a continuance on his case and won't face any jail time if any until the season is over.

Ryan Dent?! When did he come back?
There's a lot of make or break players on this roster. Bard, Britton, Huntzinger (is he already org. depth?), Vitek, Hissey, Almanzar, Couch. Probably a few more really.

Britton is clearly the most talented prospect of the players you mentioned and the one I am most interested in. Can he harness his talent and get himself in the discussion with Barnes, DeLaRosa, and Webster for the next wave of Red Sox starters?

Aaron Kurcz has had or will have Tommy John Surgery and will be in Ft Myers. I asked Bob Kipper directly about him when I was down there for spring training the 2nd week in March.

In addition to Kurcz, I now understand that CBM is also rehabbing an injury.

Very nice looking team. I feel Britton will have a very good year.

Of course Bogie will be great to follow, but love the arms. Hope Raunado has a huge year and is back in the discussion with Barnes, Webster, and De La Rosa. I'm somewhat surprised by the lack of enthusiasm for Daniel Bard. He has come a long way from last season, and could really be a huge boost to the big club by June. Seems like some are writing him off. I'm very optimistic he will back for good sometime this season.

Brandon Jacobs? Is he not being in AA, simply a roster crunch? Is this a situation where they want him to hit the ground running this year without struggle, repeating High-A with a quick promotion to follow? Or did he simply just not deserve it yet?
ADD: Sorry, shouldve checked the Salem roster thread before posting

this is the year for barnes to establish himself as a legitimate high-end pitching prospect. double-A is the turning point. wish him the best.

I can't wait to get back to Maine and watch these guys play, looks like it's going to be a fun year to watch the Sea Dogs.

Stephen Drew is expected to play four games for Portland this weekend (Thurs-Sun) before joining the Boston Red Sox for its home opener, assuming no additional concussion side effects, etc. It will be interesting to see if Bogaerts plays 3B or DH (assuming Drew at SS and not at DH).

Amfox, when a major league team assigns a player for rehab does that player count against the minor league teams roster limit. I can't imagine it does but just want to confirm. Thanks
