The spiritual successor of Eric Hinske if that's the case.

Just happened to catch him last week working out at 3rd at the major league field at the Fort. He was taking infield along with others including Yorke and Downs. Listed at 225 he said he reported at 237. He looks bionic..what you would you make a baseball player out of if you had your choice of parts. Other than that he seems to have good footwork around the bag and looked comfortable taking hard infield grounders. Didn’t see much else as game type action was limited to family and the media.

So confused by this post...best shape of his career, or worst shape?

To be clear he looks to be in great shape. First time I’ve seen him so nothing to compare with but he looks solid and if he gained weight off season it appears to be of the muscular variety.

Quick and worth the full read, but interesting on what he’s working on right now

Well lets hope he also decides to work on making contact. Because I have seen enough of power guys who cannot make contact.

Quick and worth the full read, but interesting on what he’s working on right now I hope whatever his approach change is, it works in terms of cutting down Ks and increasing OBP. Otherwise, he's basically a softball player with the approach he articulates further up in the interview.

He’ll get another crack at Portland next spring. If he can get his K% in the 25% area, he could be a lefty Rhys Hoskins type of hitter as a ceiling. Not saying this is likely by any means, but he’s still a guy with legit potential even if he’s a 20-30 range prospect in the system right now. An added bonus with Binelas: for someone who has fallen from grace a good amount, he has his head on his shoulders and seems to go out of his way to compliment his teammates often. He’s an easy guy to root for

He’s an easy guy to root for “Fallen from grace” feels a bit harsh, considering he’s in AA in his first full season, and was barely one of the first 100 picks in the draft
