Refsnyder's BABIP isn't sustainable but he is fine with a lower BABIP. If we recalculate it at about .325 it drops him to .255/.330/.445. I am keeping him over Taylor with that line.

It is what it is, but I wonder if Bazardo has a better chance of sticking on a 26-man roster like KC or Pittsburg…? If he does stick then good for him, and I wish him the best of luck in his career. I hope he and all the borderline players save a significant portion of their $700,000 for the time they no longer can stay on an MLB team. Like my parents used to say, “Don’t spend it all in one place….”

I disagree with the thought that he can't repeat what he did this year. Refsnyder's BABIP isn't sustainable but he is fine with a lower BABIP. If we recalculate it at about .325 it drops him to .255/.330/.445. I am keeping him over Taylor with that line. It's understandable feeling that Refsnyder should be kept on the 40-man, and I'm not claiming that that he shouldn't, but if Taylor is healthy (which is unknown) then I'd rather have him. Your projection is certainly within reason if he's platooned - but it's far from projecting that he can replicate the .307/.384/.497 line he put up this year. I think we would all be happy if he's the right-handed platoon with Verdugo and 'player x' in the outfield corners.

In terms of putting up a .881 OPS, I'm a little skeptical that he'll do that again. In terms of matching or even surpassing his 1.2 bWAR because he'd be in a defined role from day one rather than from his early June callup, resulting in him ending up closer to 300 plate appearances than 177? Yeah, that seems pretty reasonable.

Yeah, that seems pretty reasonable. Some of Refsnyder's 2022 success is just luck, but it is also possible that some of it is due to a change in approach that he describes in interesting ways here: blogs.fangraphs.com/from-a-failed-quest-for-more-power-rob-refnyder-has-evolved-as-a-hitter/

Tyler Danish was outrighted off the 40 man roster and elected free agency. There's now one open spot on the 40 man.
