Wow that was way better than I expected. I was expecting like $8 per, not $8 total. Even got the club option.

Overall, kind of an innings-eating reliever. Has averaged 68 appearances and 59 IP over his 10 year career and was right at both of those numbers last year.
No real splits. Can strike guys out but walks too many -- he might end up frustrating a lot of us with the latter.
Hope he figures out why his HR% went way up last year too. He had his career low GB/FB last year, which included career low GB% and career high FB%, both by a lot. Maybe the Sox staff can figure out how to turn those around.

Great contract. Easy to move too if they end up going south in the standings.

Great contract. Easy to move too if they end up going south in the standings. I always like when reactions to contracts include the “if they suck” contingency. Feels like aiming a little low. It’s like eating at a restaurant called “you can always spit it out.”

Its good with any multi year deal to have the ability to move on and trade for a prospect if needed.

It’s like eating at a restaurant called “you can always spit it out.” Well since there’s no such thing as a guaranteed slam dunk contract, it’s good to keep flexibility. I like the mindset of fielding a long-term sustainably competitive team given the landscape of the AL East right now. With 4 teams all capable of winning, the chances of any one of those teams doing so decreases in comparison to a year with only 2 “top” teams. So I think when people say “if they suck”, it’s more saying that they’re in 4th in the best division in the sport more so than actually being bad. Not the best year for any of the division to go “all in” IMO.

Great contract. Easy to move too if they end up going south in the standings. Diekman should be worth his contract after his first season (when it comes to value). The second season is like he's pitching for free. Im surprised Diekman didn't have a stronger market, especially when the Mets are throwing money around like no one else and need left handed bullpen help.

Wonder if Boston could try to use one of their lefties to pry away a SP prospect from the Mets....or Alvarez lol

He's straight up. The questions probably get a bit tiresome. I don't think intense is the right word, more like dismissive.
