This is what I’m complaining about when I complain about the ball

That isn't an indictment of the ball, as all teams are dealing with the ball. It's more of a sign that the Sox can't catch a break.

This is what I’m complaining about when I complain about the ball what is the significance e of that, though ? seems like it is less about the ball and just bad luck. or maybe our guys aren't as strong as the others. This isn't as good a team as last year. 'They may come around, but it is gonna be a long shot in this division. I understand the frustration with the ball, and I think MLB are total fools, but it was pointed out. Everyone else has to play with it also.

Eventually they will hit better, but their hacker plate approach doesn't help. It's not like they can manufacture runs.
You can blame the ball but opponents use the same ball.
If the ball was livelier, they'd score more but give up more, which I suspect is what will happen.
Basically if the Sox need to get a key hit, record a key out, or make a necessary defensive play, they haven't shown much ability to do so, so they're losing a bunch of winnable games.
They're putting out vibes that they're not going anywhere this year. 20 games is too early to give up. 40 is too soon, too, but it's not too soon for growing skepticism about the team, especially given the offseason and the vibes of massive exodus after this season, if not sooner.

Last HR was on 4/22 by Devers. No homeruns in the last 7 games. What is the Redsox record? Wow, is this true? That's pretty amazing.
Anyway, yes, the offense has been bad, but it would be silly to think it's going to remain this bad. The team has some good hitters; they'll come around.
And also, their tribulations are being exaggerated because people haven't updated to how lousy every team's offense is. Coming into today the Red Sox were batting .234. MLB overall is batting .231. (Though the Sox' OBP is a very putrid .280, whereas MLB is at a merely regular putrid of .307.)

Middlebrooks even said a player told him they had to discard at least 5 balls from a game because there were dents in them. Just a Mickey Mouse operation from MLB.

Eh, Beni came into tonight with a .429 BABIP and a .303 xwOBA. His wOBA is .397, so you can see the luck factor.
I think it's a mistake to look at the RS barrel numbers and conclude that their actual results will improve. I think it's likely that their barrel numbers will regress severely. I just don't see them as the sixth best offense in the ML. Under my Debbie Downer prediction, even if their luck improves somewhat, their results may not.
From the beginning of the season, I saw the 2022 RS offense as the the 2021 offense with a regressed-to-the-mean KKH, a toastier JDM, and a significant downgrade in RF. Story is an upgrade over what we had at 2B last year, but I don't expect a big year from him, given that he had such a short ST.
