Pleased they are being cautious with the ankle. If you don't let ankles initially heal right, it may never heal. I've got one that rolls if I stare at it wrong - for the last ummm damn almost 40 years. Oops.

So the best outcome is that he will probably be in Worcester until August and then get promoted, but this injury could push it back until September.
This makes the season's outlook a little more bleak. Casas could have really helped by July.
Might not be the Sox year this year.

Before he was injured he was batting .248 with a 35/23 K to BB stat. Kid’s got a way to go in his development before a promotion.

Before he was injured he was batting .248 with a 35/23 K to BB stat. Kid’s got a way to go in his development before a promotion. His K% is 22.4% and BB% is 14.7%. That walk rate is the 17th best in Triple A East and 12 of the players ahead of him are 27 or older and 6 are 30 or older. The K rate doesn't rank as well at 57th. But his BB/K rate is 27th, but again, 16 of those ahead of him are 27 or older. I used 27 because according to baseball reference the average batter in Triple A East is 26.5 years old. He's one of 7 players in the league that are 22 and is the 4th youngest player in the league It would be nice to see the K rate come down some, but it didn't increase significantly like some other players have after jumping from AA to AAA.

I think the answer to that is yes. You platoon JBJ and Kiké in CF. Put Franchy in RF for regular at bats. Kiké is better served as a 10th man off the bench. Casas was smoking line drives in Worcester, the batting average doesn't tell the whole story.

Is it just me or is the thread title somewhat misleading? It's pretty open ended but in my eyes when you're saying someone won't return "any time soon" I'm thinking several months. I read the story, basically says he won't play this week. Sounds like he may be back relatively soon after that. Just my two cents though seeing how when I read the title my first thought was oh crap he's not gonna be on the field again until July or something.

I guess folks with a similar mindset as myself maybe reached out and complained too. My bad ha.

I thought it meant he'd be out for months.

I couldn’t find the original Casas thread so please merge if necessary. Thought Abraham’s comments on the pod were interesting, sounded to me like they think Casas has checked all the boxes they have for him. I wonder if once he’s done with his rehab, he gets a week or two in Worcester and then is up
