They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Some very good pitching matchups coming up. Looking forward to seeing Detmers. I hoped he would drop to the Sox but knew it wouldn't happen about a month or two before the draft.

The Angels won 2 of 3 at Fenway in early May. That series ended with Boston at 10-16 and the Angels at 17-10. After getting swept by the White Sox in the next series, Boston dropped to 10-19. Meanwhile the Angels took 2 of 3 from the Nats to jump to 19-11. Their next series was against Tampa Bay, and again they won 2 of 3 with two blowouts, one of which was also a no-hitter, and one Manfredball loss. This left them at 21-12 on May 11th. Boston, who split a two game series in Atlanta after the White Sox series, had moved to 11-20. The Angels led the AL West and Boston was in the cellar of the AL East. There were 9 games between them.
In the three and a half weeks since then, Boston has gone 16-7 and LAA has gone 6-16, including their current 11-game losing streak after reaching a high-water mark at 27-17. Boston is now 27-27 and the Angels are 27-28. Mike Trout is 0 for his last 26 and does not have a hit since May 28th. It's been a remarkable reversal of fortunes.
There could not be a better time to play a four-game series in Anaheim. They are still very dangerous, but we need to kick them while they're down.

Wow reading that article kind of gave me a headache, but I think it enlightened me to a big question that's been nagging at the game threads for weeks..... Bobby Dalbech's official end all nickname, the one that could stick ---------- BOBSON DUGGNUTT : The enigmatic power hitting 1st baseman, who traded his brain for muscles at the baseball player factory, he can hit it a mile, but he might also come out of the locker room with his jockstrap on the outside of his pants. Let's go raw raw baseball street fighting, hits some huge power dingers like a golden prawn.

Okay I have definitely never heard of Chase Silseth. Rare story in today's player development's network. Was an 11th rounder from last summer's draft. Was Arizona's Fri night starter, and had good peripherals but a 5.55 era and is only 6ft, so he was overlooked. He only threw 5innings after signing, so he really did just sort of came out of nowhere and threw 6 scoreless in his debut.

Okay I have definitely never heard of Chase Silseth. An anagram for his name that Ian might appreciate: Chelsea sh*ts

They're not so bad to lose 11 in a row. Trout is bound break out of 0-26 in a big way. I hope it's not in the next 4 games, but it makes me nervous.

Agreed. The odds that they lose 15 straight are pretty low... although they do have the most overrated manager in the history of sports...

Abraham says Sox are kicking the tires on the Cubs David Robertson. Sounds like a Bloom type move.

He's not nearly as dominant as Kimbrel was last year for the Northsiders, though...

Jaden is the spitting image of Gary. Li'l Manny has his dad's smile. I would need 100 guesses to correctly name D'Angelo's papi.

Arroyo continuing to get starts over JBJ in RF continues to be idiotic. And if JBJ wasn't going to get the start why not keep Duran for one more day?

Against a righty at that Although now I see JBJ is in CF? Ok I guess? If the plan was to sit Kiké against a righty then they reeeeally should have just kept Duran for another day!
Honestly, what is the infatuation with Arroyo in the outfield? He is atrocious out there. He has literally cost them as much in the 70 innings he's played in the outfield as they've gained from having JBJ out there the rest of the time (-3 OAA/-4 DRS). You tolerate that if it's Manny Ramirez. But if it's... Christian Arroyo?
ADD: Okay, I guess they had to add JBJ back. Still, I'd rather just about any configuration, including Dalbec at 1B and Cordero in the outfield, to playing Arroyo out there.

According to AC Arroyo will be spelling Raffy X and Story this week.
