Is this going to be one of those years?
Seriously, its early, but right now I have more faith in the sixth inning guy, the 7th inning guy, the setup man, and the lefty specialist.

Andrew Miller warming, not a sign of confidence. I guess Farrell is having the same thoughts as all of us.

I had a dream last night that started like this, and then Farrell pulled him off and brought Aceves in and we ended up losing 256 to 5.
At least Jennifer Lawrence gave me a Brian Johnson.

Meanwhile, Melancon has a 0.00 ERA with the Pirates.

We suck. Lets compete with the Astros for the 1st overall pick.

Nice Hanrahan. Unlucky that he got no help from the ump, but once he didn't threw a 60 footer, then left the next one up high fearing another WP

Wow. Just wow.
I never wanted you Hanrahan. And now you're making me hate you.

Gameday is dead, what's happening? Remember 1986, game six? That but instead of a slow roller to first the ball landed on the street outside the ballpark.

You know, there was all this noise about how Hanrahan's bad numbers with the Pirates were all in non-save situations or whatever. Too clever by half. Turns out the guy with the 5.4 BB/9 last year really doesn't have great control and parsing numbers into tiny sample sizes based on fairly arbitrary game situations isn't a particularly useful method of analysis.

This is the second game this year I felt red sox were getting the short end of the strike zone in the ninth. Maybe I'm just biased.

Nice Hanrahan. Unlucky that he got no help from the ump, but once he didn't threw a 60 footer, then left the next one up high fearing another WP or Salty. Those two pitches were horribly framed, then Salty didn't move fast enough to block the WP (although it may not have helped).

Flaherty was hitless for the season and on the verge of earning a golden sombrero. And Reimold and Maclouth are arguably the worst everyday players in the league. If you can't handle the bottom of the Baltimore order, you need to get on the next plane to Pittsburgh.

Yeah, two pitches were badly framed. Who cares? He also gave up two home runs and bounced a slider ten feet in front of home, among other offenses. edit: To be fair...he had McClouth struck out TWICE!!!! No. Stop. That was a complete disaster and it's on Hanrahan. You cannot blame five runs on not getting a couple borderline pitches.
